I don't understand why the qualifier, "without an ability," is on this card. Momentum is not an ability, so why should it only be applied to creatures without abilities?

Agreed.  I think that it should be all creatures, but make the cost 12 , just like massive dragons.  Maybe even more.  Then it'd be fairly balanced, since one could still CC the card on the turn it came out, unless it was quinted or something

I would keep this rule. Momentum  (with quintessence) makes a creature totally untouchable.
If it would apply to all creatures with abilities, it would be far OP.

I prefer it with the "creatures with no ability" clause to, its a reasonable nerf which could keep the play cost low and people who use it will have to consider using more Basic creatures. I think it would go great with a boneyard and a few OTYugh's! 1/1 momentum skeletons. It would actualy be the first card to convince me to use the GRAVEyard instead of a boneyard in one of my rainbows decks.

No matter what, the gist of this card is really cool, I love it.

Potential use in Frogtal, although you would have to rely purely on  towers and give up your mark to  . 

Would allow you to add a Gavel as a nice little addition though.
