As to a possible nerf, what do you think of removing it's immunity to spell damage, but then increasing it hp until it can take a hit or two? Maybe 8-10 hp? That makes it so with a concerted effort your opponent could still take it out in a single turn, but only at considerable cost.
you know now that i reread this comes to mind that i'm sorta making a spell soaking form of Armagio tho with the soaking ability being passive at the cost of no attacking. So yea i can easily see the point of higher hp and no reduced damage. And with the retreat ability then it gives the chance to renew it in a couple of turns (after all if used it goes back on top of the deck so thats 1 turn it's gone... at least). Also what player with half a brain would play his buff if it's only target is a Spellcaller/Spellbender.And again creature abilities still bypass the targeting restriction.(as in not effected by a spellcaller/spellbender.)

Would this also draw spells cast by creatures (i.e. Devour, Paradox, Congeal)?  Then it would be way OP.

no they still work like normal as they are "abilities" not spells

CURATOR COMMENT

To get to the Crucible

- Fill the Element name in the table in Words only, ie "Gravity"
- Fill in the table Ability with the text mathcing the card.

Questions/Comments/Suggestions

Intersting card. I have the same mechanic in my own ideas catalog.
The basic version is simple enough, you just only show the reticle for the Spellcaller when a creature targeting effect is cast.
The upgraded version is harder to play out, If I have 3 Photon and the Spellbender and a Rain of Fire is cast at me, how much damage does the Spellbender take? What if there are 2 spellbender?

Another issue is that you have chosen a very high HP value for the creature, this will lock out a lot of controls like Otyugh (including you own) Lightning, and poison. Then after suffering the hit you just rewind, redeploy the second from your hand.

Might want to try and simplify it sticking only to the basic card and stripping the superfluous details like not attacking. Reduce the toughness on the base card to 0|4 and 0|6 on the upped card. 4 :gravity for cost would be a good start for cost there.

Frist I'm working on making the changes requested.. Now to anwser the questions

1. Yes Spellcaller it like that but with spells only and if more than 1 spellcaller/spellbender is on the field(either players field) then a targeted spell can hit either.(spell casters choice as normal).Creatures abilities, Permanent abilities, and Weapon abilities target as normal as they are not effected by a spellcaller/spellbender.

2.
If I have 3 Photon and the Spellbender and a Rain of Fire is cast at me, how much damage does the Spellbender take? What if there are 2 spellbender?
Ok Effect as i see it Rain of Fire is a blanket spell meaning that a Spellcaller has no effect on it and a Spellbender takes normal damage (3) but all other creatures on the field are treated like they are borrowed / immortal towards the damage. Now the downside to this effect if you have a Spellbender on your field and cast a Rain of Fire (unless the other player has a Spellcaller / Spellbender too) it has no effect. Spellcallers / Spellbender are never protected by there own effects and loose there passive ability if made immortal.(the reason for the retreat ability above all else)

3. A last note: Where as a Spellcaller will protect a player from Bolt spells(Bolt spells may target creatures and must target the Spellcaller) the Spellbender will not as it's effect is only for creatures.

Still have different Text in the table when compared against the basic card. They have to be a match so that there is no confusion when someone reads the table compared to the card.

How does this work with cremation? (EG I try to cremate my phoneix with this on my side of the field)

Why would anyone use this, we already have reflect shields, and everyone already puts up with spell,s it's not like they are overpowered or need to be nerfed anymore. Plus with everyone only making 30 card decks, I don't see place for this anywhere. It is purely defensive and like the armagio (almost purely defensive) I don't think I will see it in any decks. There was only one deck with armagio in it, that was a fractal, which was for fun.

I just don't see why this is neccesary.

For the upgraded version, you need to change the text from "effect" to "affect."  I'm not saying that "effect" isn't a word, only that "affect" is grammatically correct in that situation.

Armagios + Angels.  A13 deck, mark is gravity.

well to anwser your question. If you use cremation then it'll target the spellcaller/spellbender if they are on your side of the field but if they are on your opponents side then.
1. A spellcaller on your opponents side of the field can't be targeted by your cremation so nothing happens. You cremate your Phoenix.
2.A spellbender on your opponents side of the field blocks your cremation as it'll have no target. Under the spellbender all creatures other than spellcaller/spellbender are treated as if they are borrowed toward the casting of spells.

Yes this is a powerful defender if used well as it'll stop spell cast on creatures.
The spellcaller just has an extra effect on bolt spells and lighting as they can target both creatures and players so they must target the spellcaller.

For the upgraded version, you need to change the text from "effect" to "affect."  I'm not saying that "effect" isn't a word, only that "affect" is grammatically correct in that situation.

I hate that deck it's hard to stop with 6 angels

thank you I'll look into it when i get the chance

your right i'll correct it if i can
