I am not sure if it could be coded, but I think the keys should only be vulnerable if individually targeted.

Aka, rain of fire wouldn't hit them, but fire lance could.


Also, I think false keys should be poisonous (so they infect if devoured)

Ugh. The only problem with that was that people would just mouse over the card to check the passive abilities, see "Poisonous" on 2 of them, and figure it out. If I made all 3 poisonous, I'd have to raise the cost of the shield. I want to make some kind of trap for players who make a mistake, but it would just ultimately make my shield basically unwanted in the game.

Unless the same coding that would make it appear to be the wrong one also masks the poisonous....



Also, this also falls into the probably hard to code category, but I think that no matter which of these you target with PU, it should create a fake key. (That way, you don't give away that a key is fake by PU'ing it)

Have you considered making it  :earth and the keys  :time? Just a thought.

About the card, I like the mechanic although it would be hard to code, as pointed out. Good job nonetheless.

But one question, since you know which is the real key, can't you just Quint the original key to prevent opponent for opening the gate ?

That's why I reaaaaally have a problem. Should I make it so that they can't be quinted? But then I realize, that takes 8 (7) :time and 4 (3) :aether just to get rid of the CC risk factor, but that means you have to have 2 (1) :earth to cover the PC portion of it. I'm starting to think that if you went that in-depth with one shield, it should pay off. After all, can't I just play 7 :earth for diamond shield and then pay 1 :earth to make it indestructible? This requires more time to handle, and in the end, any combos that make it indestructible are no more out of place than playing PA on any shield.

No. There has to be at least some degree of difficulty taking out this thing.

Why not make all the keys permanents as well? No Fractal problems and the keys must be killed one at a time?
That ruins the point. This thing is supposed to be able to be destroyed by CC and PC in order to balance its enormous defence.

I think this makes the most sense. That way the keys can't be protected except by partially being shielded by cloak.  However I would make instakill only trigger on a spell, targeted by an ability would just meaning using a one-quanta ability like infection.

Other than that, the card shouldn't need anything else.

Silly question, and maybe it's already been asked, but forget the keys for a moment. If the door is protected (i.e. Enchant Artifact)...?

As stated already, even if the Ancient Gate is PA'd, destroying the Ancient Key or just removing it from play will destroy Ancient Gate.
