now that this is the only cars that can kill quinted cards this shield became super useful. beating divine glory without this card is pretty much impossible. Only down side is that until this card kills a creature it does not lower damage at all. so unless you have some shards it looses some of it's effectiveness, but overall a great card.

Excellent against Boneyard decks

I love this card when its not agaisnt me! ;D
But when its agaisnt me I rather play a momentum on my creatures as fast as I can!
With the lower cost of :fire,it helps alot of players win agaisnt AIS,Other Players,FG.

Would someone care to extrapolate upon the Fire Shield/Antimatter combo for me? More specifically: Player 1 has a 5/5 Thingy in play. Player 2 casts Antimatter, turning the Thingy into a -5/5. Player 2 also happens to have Fire Shield in play. Would the Antimattered Thingy still take damage from the Fire Shield when attacking? Or is it no longer considered an attacker, tho it still "attacks" in order to "deal life" to Player 2? In my experiences it seems to me the Antimattered Thingy is safe from the Fire Shield, which begs the question: how many other shields won't affect Antimattered creatures?
Just trying to confirm if this is a glitch, but I suspect it's intentional.

Antimatter "attacks" are neither reduced or evaded, and do not suffer from damage or status affecting shields. Phase shield, Gravity shield, and Wings are the only shields effective against appropriate antimattered attackers.

An appropriate answer and exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you.

Almost 2 years since someone actually posts in this thread. And I would like to say that fire shield is still useful in firestall and against many decks that use small creatures. It is still one of the most useful shields created. Not to mention its use against immaterial creature. But I am worried when shards are use more and more, the fire shield will no longer be a threat. shard of focus, shard of wisdom, shard of freedom, shard of patience are all deadly enemies for this fire shield.

Y u necro ALL the fire card topics?

Starting something. I mean the game meta change so much and all the fire card threads still dead.
-
Definitely still a useful card. It can mess up a lot of strategies, and the only true counters are massive HP creatures, PC, and mass healing of creatures.

hopefully. saw a lot people using the 4 shards above lately. those shards just laugh at it

A near perfectly balanced card I like it
