Then what about Hermes, who relies on both rushing AND control?
Control is what makes Hermes a much more powerful god than ferox. Hes an all rounder that has deflags, heavy CC, as well as ea. This what makes him one of the harder god to beat. In this case the rushing element is seen as an added bonus to his control capabilities.

Think like Ferox vs Hermes.

cmon guys, this is simple, eternal phoenix will win

no god has anything to stop the fractal phoenix spam, and eternal phoenix has enough control to keep herself alive, that is something we can all agree on, yes?

now, the only god I see that can stand a chance is decay, but I think eternal phoenix is faster, as long as EP get's one good fractal on a minor phoenix off, EP should win the game faster
No. What if eternal phoenix's phoenixes lies on the bottom of her deck? Nothing is certain my friend.

What about Hermes? He is also extremely fast AND has more control. His Fire Buckler and Fire Storms can destroy all EP's creatures in one shot, while killing him quickly with a blitz of powerful creatures.

Or how about Seism, who can destroy EP's only source of :fire?

In reference to Decay, he will typically destroy EP's creatures with Siphon Lifes, and his quanta denial will delay Fractal use to at least turn 4. By then he could already have a lockdown on EP.

No. What if eternal phoenix's phoenixes lies on the bottom of her deck? Nothing is certain my friend.
EP almost always gets a phoenix out. We're referring to typical draws to determine match outcomes.

I also think Seism can beat EP with no much problem. He even has rewind, and Diamond shield that can be protected. And if Hermes cant defeat EP, he will at least come close.

About Ferox vs Octane, also dunno if the gases would be quick enough. Leaf Dragons produce a lot of quanta really fast, and the big dragons cause a lot of damage.

hermes's creatures are not as stable as EP, even with heavy armor, and after a long CC battle, since EP's are much harder to kill, EP comes out on top

as for seism, good point, but typically seism plays 3-4 QS, which shouldn't be too much of a setback, protected diamond shield is relatively rare, and EP does have ruby dragons even if it happens, SS from seism will be annoying, but I still think EP has the speed to defeat him

as for decay vs EP, EP can likely pull off a fractal before decay can, depends on how many phoenixes you have in the beginning of the match, you can get decay to use a lot of siphon uselessly on them, wasting quanta he could have used to play more pests. you can get a fractal on turn 4, if decay plays only one pest, you can also simply destroy every pest he plays in the early game (he will play all his pests in his hand, if you destroy them all, he won't be able to fractal pests for quite a while)

But it won't be a long CC battle, because both Gods are so fast.

Hermes can wipe out all EP's creatures in one shot, slowing him down massively, while EP will have trouble against Hermes's creatures - he only has Fire Lances (and rare Firestorms), which aren't enough to kill Hermes's powerful golems. Certainly Hermes is much harder for players than EP is.

Another God EP could have trouble against is Akebono - his CC has no effect and Akebono has one of the lowest TTWs of all the False Gods.

But since this is an interesting debate, I'll match up all the other FG's against EP in the OP (acryonyms FTW) when I have time.

against akebono, EP would probably be faster... CC wouldn't have any effect, but meh, it's speed vs speed

EP also has lightning bolts (keep that in mind)

LOL, eternal phoenix can be defeated easily ;).
examples:
octane! gas will slow those phoenixes way to hard to be effective, he deals fast and heavy damage and eagle's eye will kill anything on the field.
dark matter and decay, will both make sure EP won't play fractal ;). decay will lock him down and once the black holes from dark matter are over he'll have enough damage to kill him.
graviton'll have a good chance to, oties will nom nom everything while he has fast damage, and if he draws a RoF the game will be over ;).
hermes, even faster then EP, higher damage, more cc. seriously, this guy totaly owns him.
morte might have a chance to, plague+bone wall will lock EP down early and late game, that's why bone wall+mass cc is used as an easy counter to EP ;).

from all the fgs i think the ones with the best chance are:
graviton, rainbow, octane and hermes.

Ah yes, Morte would have a decent chance against Eternal Phoenix, as his deck is incredibly similar to the EP counter deck.

Rainbow can be outrushed even by players, but if (s)he survived the early game, EP would have no chance.

now i'll explain the gods (from wich i think) who have the best chances:
rainbow, lol. this guy has high damage early, mid and late game. he has lots of control and when you think you have him, he miracles ;).
octane, strong and pretty fast damage. huge CC due his EE and fire shield and octane's gasses will kill lots of creatures/gods.
graviton, this guy has huge damage potential once he sets up, and he will. most gods won't outrush him cause of gravity shield/oties and strong mass cc like fire storm.
then he'll have a few strong firemasters and the game is over.
hermes, won't explain this one, he is to fast, to strong and to many cc xD.
dark matter, just added this guy cause his black holes will lock some mark based fgs early game ;) (so yes, also EP).

I'm not so sure about Octane, since Ferox has Jade Shields

He'll get a few gases in at least, which will kill RoLs, then will kill all other creatures with Eagle's Eyes/Fire Buckler.
