Wiki Deck Massacre 2011

First of all, thanks for Gyrodiot organizing a similar thing a while back here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,18539.0.html) and here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,19077.0.html) and here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,19202.0.html) and here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,19588.0.html).

We are now going to do basically the same thing, only this time we are going nuts and will start a mindless mass murder of old crappy decks.

STEP 1: Permanently delete all the crappy decks from the Wiki.
This means old Wiki articles that don't have a deck image and generally look like crap. That means roughly 50% of the decks currently listed there. I will not be happy until half the decks are gone. No mercy, just instant removal. New decks posted will not be removed. Instead they will be fixed.
STEP 2: Fix all the other decks
Fixing here means adding images, tags, correct categories, etc.
STEP 3: Copy popular decks from the forums to the Wiki
Forums have by far better decks that the Wiki, so this step is natural.
After we've completed all these 3 steps, we should have a nice little list of good decks. Especially important will be the role of tagging the decks. Example: Each deck that is built around the card Mitosis, will get a tag called "Mitosis". This way when I one day want to see all the decks that use Mitosis, all I need to do is click the link, and the decks get listed on the page.

The event will start very soon. Stay tuned.

Looking at the calendar, one might suspect that this is a joke. However it is not. I'm dead serious. If I did have a joke like this, I would have come up with something better.

There are 2 jokes already, and this makes more sence than both of them, so yeah, prepare weapons and get ready to slaugther some decks(calling it Wiki Deck Massacre Event 2011 might be a joke though). But the wiki does require to get some good decks, as everything it has is old and crappy right now.

Funny thing is, I really can't tell if this is serious or not.
For all intents and purposes, I would say this is pretty serious, since within the past hour or so, I've seen about 3 'old decks' that literally made me want to find the 'Move to Trash' button, but I decided not to because I didn't want to remove something that could have been important.  :-X

Don't be afraid to take out the trash. 90% of the decks we moved from the old wiki during those first few days, were very low quality and should be eliminated.

Well I'm mostly in charge of the concrete database (cards, abilities, patch notes, etc) and Gyrodiot's in charge of decks, so he will be leading the project along with SG.

I panicked a little when I saw this thread ^^ I was a bit busy this week again.

Well, if I understand correctly, the clean-up has to be done... faster ?

With no careful listing of what should stay and what should go ?

Without grouping, just fixing and tagging ?

...

Let's go. Deletion mode, activated.

EDIT : After full review of all published posts of the Wiki, ALL decks imported from the old Wiki are now gone to the Trash. I removed a lot of useless old draft too.

The Dashboard is now clean, but there's an annoying warning on each line...

I won't say all the remaining decks are good, but old ones are gone for good.

SG, I suppose we have now to move on step 2, fix all decks (even the bad ones) and let the ranking decide of their future ?
Went AWOL. No reason.
Now silent. May return.

Btw.. I didn't mean that the project was taking too long and I want faster results :)

The thing is that when we first launched the new Wiki, spawn moved tons of deck topics from the old Wiki. Problem is that most of those are crap.

The idea of this project is to basically give Wiki Editors "licence to kill" all decks they think are unsuitable for Wiki, without having to waste time by discussing about it first. So if you see these crappy articles, just remove them.

I would like to point out that decks shouldn't be removed because they are bad decks. They should only be removed if there is very little content, effort and testing. This usually means decks where the author just dumped his idea on the wiki without any pictures or deeper analysis.

Once we get rid of all the worst decks, it's easier to start organizing the ones we have left.

Ah, I was editing my post while you were replying ^^

Well, now all old decks are gone, let's start the fixing ?

EDIT : "All" is a bit much. I made a quick sort and kept some of them.

EDIT, again :

Many of the old decks I've removed seemed good... but are now completely outdated due to card balancing, and the arrival of new cards. Others were... well, just an image and a list of cards, even if the deck wasn't that bad.
