Title: Step 002 - Remaking Music Schedule
Post by: Drake_XIV on August 09, 2014, 02:54:20 am
As seen in the old schedule (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/elements-radio/scheduled-programming/), the plan was to give each element two one hour long segments in which a playlist dedicated to that element would play. However, this plan meant that there was no room for other content other than music. And if a playlist was put aside for content, then there was not time for that playlist in the future scheduling. This was also particularly unfair to elements featured later at night as there would be considerably smaller viewership.

And, honestly, who'd open up a stream for just music?

So, with that being said, what would you, the community, like to keep Element-centric playlists going on at different times? If so, how long do you think that window should be?

Considering there is a lot of dead time in the forums when it gets dark in the States, there will be no music going on during some of that time. While mostly seamless, there will be a point at which the stream will be offline. This much has been decided, but the matter is when that window should be. When do you guys feel that it's fine if the Radio is dead? What exact times are the Forums quiet?

Sorry, misread.
I don't think it would be a bad idea for players to record their games (be it FG, Arena, PvP, etc.) to put on the stream. Window size could be 30-60 minutes, or just short bursts in between songs/playlists.
Better yet, combine the two.

While your response is definitely pertinent to Elements Radio, it does not answer either of the questions asked above. I will move onto content like game recordings after evaluating the format in which people would prefer the musical content that Elements Radio hopes to provide.

~6PM-9PM my time (PST 3AM-6AM) is kinda quiet (roughly estimating I think)

Even at 1300 GMT (600 PDT)? I know that chat definitely slows down significantly at 700 GMT (000 PDT). Would've imagined it to pick up again at 900 GMT (200 PDT) at least.

So 12 slots of music, interspersed with content, with a couple extended content periods and a 3-hour break, which doesn't even have to be a break.

Dm is a robot
Dm doesn't sleep

I'm GMT -3 and I don't feel like converting, but my time, usually from 4 A.M upwards to 9 A.M, the chat is pretty quiet. The pace starts kicking at around 7 A.M again (Zawadx usually logs in and some other people.) Although I'd like to believe otherwise, from 1 A.M to 3 A.M the chat can still be quite talkative by some people in some weird timezones. The afternoon is "quiet", but there's still talking, and from 5 P.M onwards it's usually quite talkative. Some rare times there are dead moments around 10 P.M to midnight though.

TL;DR Chat is almost always dead from 4 AM to 7 AM minimum.

1000 GMT is a bit more accurate, though.

I made a pop playlist, probably the genre the least amount of people wanted to do so I figured I would make one and I think I found something people might like. This playlist is meant to be directly after gravity(rap/hiphop, I'm working on a playlist for that as well btw) and right before Aether(electric) as you might notice by the 2 songs in the beginning being more towards the rap side of things and the song at the very end being more techno sounding.

I tried to keep everything PG13, but I understand if you might want to change the first song in the list, so feel free to do so. Also, this is an hour long playlist, 56 minutes to be exact. Here is the link to it, hope you enjoy:

Made an update to the playlist, removed a song that didn't fit the playlist at all and added a much better song to the end of it. I never liked mariah carey anyway, not sure why I even added her.
