The positive  with a rainbow deck is that you have endless possibilities with how your deck is made up with. There are certain cards that are really importent in a rainbow deck that you can´t do without or simply shouldn´t.Thene there are simply cards that are nice to have. Here is a small list.

Quantum pillars-  The most obvious. I suggest that you use at least half your deck with this card.

Hourglass - Since most rainbow decks are very big (usally 40-60 cards) you need to speed up your deck. Try to go with one hourglass per 10-12 cards but.

Firefly Queens-You need to bring out creatures out as fast as possible and as many as possible. FFq are one of the best cards in the game simply because you can bring out a firefly every round.

Otyugh - creature controll.
Take out your enemys creatures  so they can´t get the upper hand on you.

Bonewall -good shield to have ecspecially if your using Otygh and graveyard.

Graveyard -for every creature destroyed you get a skeleton. Very importent if you decide to use empathic bond.

Empathic bond -for every creature you have, it heals you 1 point per round. This is a importent card to have since everyone whants to have elemental victory. It is culmitive so you would whant  1EB for every 10-12 cards.

these are the main cards in my Rainbow deck. I have more but my deck wouldn´t work without them. just to see how effective such a deck can be......
L3 win 100% of the time get 90% EV
top 50 win 90% of the time get about 80% EV
False gods win about 40% of the time get about 80% EV

Hope others will ad more to it.

I'm not sure how well it would work, but perhaps a rainbow deck with:

Quantum pillars -- For mutations' abilities
Boneyard -- Skeletons to fuel Druids/Otyughs
Otyugh -- Fuels boneyards
Rain of Fire/ Fire Bolt/ Ice bolt/ Drain Life/ Lightning --- Fuels boneyards
Fallen Druid -- Mutates your skeletons into something much better
Hourglass -- Speed up deck

I got fallen druids in my deck and they are very importent vs gods. One of the better Cards in the game. fallen elf is to random and not effective enough.

Also very useful are the chaos power cards. They give you random defence and attack. saved me quite a few times playing. using them on otugh at the start can lock down your opponent right away

Nice to have is at least one miracle. Hasn´t saved me in games but has assured me a mastery many times.

upgraded Dimensional shield is also a great card to have. If you have over 10 pillars out you can practically lock down your opponent. just be careful not to choke yourself out with this card.

One good card to have is a Fallen Elf not that expensive mana wise and when combined with low leveled creatures like skeletons from the boneyard lots of chances of getting 5/5 abominations or a weird creature.

I would not recommend that people suggest rares as essential cards to use in a rainbow deck as lots of people especity new ones who want to have a rainbow deck will be put off thinking they need rares for it to work.

Cisco, would you mind giving us an example of a rainbow deck you use? I'm quite new to the game and the electrum cost for changing decks is too high and has so far prevented me from experimenting other elements.

Here is the card deck I was using that gave me 30-50% win vs gods.
There all upgraded so your  chances are it won´t be very succsessful vs gods non upgraded. mastery should be almost constent on the other levels.

Mark air
25 Qu pillars
01 Diss schield ( will not work unupgraded)- no need for the card just leave it out if you don´t have a upgrade.
02 Chaos power (will not work unupgraded)-  use blessing
02 druids - elves will work just not as reliable
02 graveyards
03 bonewalls
04 Otugh
04 ferrel bonds
02 Firefly Queens
03 Eagle eye
05 Hourglasses
02 steals

never played it non upgraded. Started out with 20 upgrades. got a new deck that is around 50-60% VS L6 now. Maybe it will help a few with there ideas about a rainbow deck.

Thanks Cisco, I'd been trying to make a deck like that and seeing yours helped a lot.

For those of you starting out, here are a few changes to make it work well with no upgraded cards:
-Fallen elves (the non-upgraded version) own.  I use 4.  You can use them on your skeletons, but that's not the point.  The point is when you have an 0/6 Otugh (starting plus plate armor) and they drop a ridiculous upgraded dragon.  Turn him into a 5/5 Abomination and eat him.
-Instead of bone wall, I use Dimensional Shield (the Aether one).  Without upgrades, you are already pressed for quanta, but nothing is using the Aether quanta.  This puts it to good use, and frees up Death quanta for bone yards.  5 of these can stall a long time.
-The basic damage plan is to make aboms and mutants made from skeletons.  FFQ is just in case your opponent doesn't feed your bone yards, and you need to feed them yourself.  Don't be shy about eating your own guys!

Once you get them, a couple Supernovas help speed things up a lot.

Could Chaos Bolt or Mutation fill in until you get the Druids?
