HOW TO BUILD AN EFFECTIVE RAINBOW DECK

Rainbow deck is hands down the most effective type of deck. It's well-rounded, has tons of different variations and is fun to play. Here are my tips on designing your own rainbow deck.

1. Try to use the same amount of quantum from ALL elements

This is the most important rule. When you play rainbow you have Quantum Pillars (about 35% of total cards) , which means you will get roughly the same amount of quantum from all 12 elements. This is why it's called rainbow. And this is why you should take cards from all 12 elements.

Having quantum usage spread around all 12 elements gives a higher probability of being able to play cards you are dealt.

If you have too many cards from one element, you will most likely not be able to use them all early in the game. On the other hand, if you have no cards from an element, that quantum is basically wasted.

Mistake I've seen a lot of people do, is that they like a specific card so much, that they take 6 of them, even though the total cost can be as high as 30+ quantum. This is a bad idea. If you get unlucky and draw 4-5 of them early, there is no way you can afford to pay for them all, and you are basically playing with a smaller starting hand.

Another mistake is not taking a single card from some of the elements. If you don't use an element at all, you should really try to find at least one card from it. When you draw this card, you will most likely have the quantum to pay for it so essentially the card is free. Even if there were some slightly better cards for your deck, the fact that you can play this card instantly, is a HUGE advantage.

It's generally a good idea to have 1-4 cards from all elements, depending on the total cost of cards and how important they are. Any card you have to have in order for your deck to be effective, I suggest you take at least 3. If you take less, there is a high probability that you won't get them early in the game.

2. Choose your mark carefully.

Only exception to the rule above is the element in which you have your mark. You can take cards from this element a little bit more than the other 11, because your mark gives you 1 extra quantum each turn.

Rainbow decks are generally weak early in the game because it takes a while to collect that quantum. This is why best marks are the ones that help you collect quantum faster. In my opinion the best choices for your mark in a rainbow deck are Time and Entropy. Time helps you draw multiple cards while Entropy makes sure you can use Supernova no later than round 3.

3. Take Sundials and/or Hourglasses.

These two cards give you the ability to draw multiple cards each turn. I have found this to be VERY important in a success of a rainbow deck. Rainbow decks are very luck dependent and if you don't get a good starting hand and cannot draw multiple cards, you will most likely lose. Having the ability to draw multiple cards lowers luck dependency because those good cards are bound to show up sooner or later.

4. Try to make your deck smaller

A lot of people play with 60 card rainbow deck. But because of 6 card limit, having a big deck might cause problems if you are unlucky with draw.

If you have a card that you REALLY need on your starting hand, take 6 copies of it and try to limit the size of your deck to about 42. This way on average you will have one copy of that card in every starting hand. Remember, on average. On the other hand, if you had a 60 card deck you won't have that card in most of your starting hands.

I've seen a lot of people just take more and more cards when they want more damage, healing or whatever. I did this same mistake myself. But when I did the OPPOSITE and made my deck SMALLER, I found that it actually improved my damage and defense because this way it's more likely that I get those important cards faster.

ONLY problem with smaller deck is possibility of decking out. Especially against some of the False Gods like Miracle or Rainbow. This can easily be avoided by not drawing multiple cards around mid-point of the fight. You will generally sense when you are "safe" even without drawing multiple cards, just as long as you don't deck out.

I hope this helps. I will add more tips when I have time. If you disagree with something, please let me know.

Good luck with your rainbow!
