This is one of the decks I've made recently - though the idea is so simple that I'm sure it's been done before. I want to make it work better in PvP1.

My question is this: Instead  :fire and the Crimson Dragon, is there a better Element/Creature/Spell set to go with? I don't mind adding pillars of other elements if I must; I just happen to have no sense of what a good number would be.

My first question would be what makes this better than one step simpler, ie mono  :aether with permanent control? If you had something like 6 phase drags, 6 dim shields, 15  :aether pillars, 3 deflagrations and  :fire mark, yes you would lose the element of surprise, but you would be dealing damage progressively and you wouldn't be crippled by quanta control. As it is, a stoppage of your  :fire quanta flow which stems solely from your mark would render the deck hopeless.

My second question would be if you wanted an OTK like deck, why not go for one of those that is already on the forums? PU alone is not necessarily effective--you'd stand a higher chance with buffs including momentum, then PU, just to give you an idea. Yes we all love dragons, but there are more innovative ways to manipulate them.
