Advice on Water/Death deck https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=58673.msg1193762#msg1193762

I'm pretty sure this is probably a common deck set up, but I cannot for the life of me get the search to return any results, even on single cards from it. So, with the ability to hunt down the information on my own basically gone (I don't have time to go through almost every single thread looking for it manually and very few of the titles are helpful in cutting that down) I'm caving and making a new thread. Sorry!

This is what I currently have. Not sure if posting the deck like this will show the mark, so just in case it doesn't it's water.

It works pretty decently about 85-90% of the time, but there are a few decks that destroy me every time without fail (aether/wind firefly queen or time/anything pharaoh/scarab decks being the absolute worst). My partner insists that it can be improved on and I'm inclined to agree. I can play comfortably in Silver, Gold is a little more of a challenge but still doable, and I'm too scared to try Platinum.

Any suggestions?

Your biggest issue seems to be lack of quanta. You only have 10 quanta cards, which might be enough for a standed upped Speed Poison, but you're also packing Squids, which use a lot of quanta.

After that, you might be lacking in damage. 4 Chrysaoras and 4 Poisons is a bit on the low side for a deck like this, even with solid control.

Not really. I do very occasionally get quanta screwed from a bad opening draw, but it's not common. As far as the damage goes, the Arsenics are a big help and more often than not I'll get one out on my first or second turn so the poison starts building up immediately.

Start by changing your mark to death, turning all of the death pillar/pends into water pillar/pends, and then remove the plagues, replacing them with 2 poison.

Then remove the skull buckler and artic dragon, and replace them with 2 chysaora.

You use much more water than death, so it doesn't make sense that your build generates more death than water.
(Yes, octopi are that expensive.)

Honestly, unless I get a bad draw (which is going to happen occasionally in pretty much any deck, especially at minimum deck size), I have more quanta of both colours than I can use. That's really not an issue. If I end up short on anything, it's death, so I'm definitely getting enough water.

.........................

Okay this was a ridiculously stupid idea. I'm going back to what I've been doing for most of the last 6 years and ignoring the community and just playing the game. Thanks for trying.
