Hm...?

It's kind of an odd deck.  It's a pillarless control deck.

  • Except for the Explosions, every card in the deck has synergy with everything else.
  • It only takes one Pharaoh for the Scarabs to get out of control.
  • Even if you don't draw a Rewind (or use it up in defense), the Mummies are worth their cost at 5/3s.
  • The normal Scarabs are in the deck to provide Cremation fodder if the Novas are hard to come by.
  • Little too much going on.  Sometimes gets really bad draws.
  • I was going to name the deck "The Reborn" or "Born Again" because of the Mummies/Pharaohs and Phoenixes but... whatever.
  • A deck that went straight for Pharaohs would probably work better, but I just wanted to use the Mummies.

(This one is a more traditional Death/Time deck and probably works a lot more effeciently.)

Discuss.

Added a second deck.  This one's a lot more stable.

I just hate making decks that rely on 2 different types of towers.

I've been playing around with the Mummy's and Pharaoh's a bit now.  They just do not seem quick enough to get scarabs out nearly as quick as the fractal scarab build.   With Fractal in the game, it really obsoletes the pharaoh's and mummies before they even are released.

Having said that, if you ignore Fractal, I think the Scarab engine using Mummies/Pharoah's is fun to play...... until a Diamond shield is dropped ;)

Yeah, the second one is good in some situations, but neither one is very good.  There has to be a way to crack it.  I kind of just wonder, "Why am I not making a OTY deck instead?"

I had pictures of the mummies and pharaohs here to prevent confusion, but I was asked to take them down.

Mr. Sexington, your second deck looks exactly like the one I made, but I have a time tower and an hourglass in place of the graveyards, I find it works better.

For the first deck, however, you look like you'll be pretty short on time quanta, even with the mark and novas/cremations.
I ask nothing of humanity but fairness in all things, but I do not expect even that.

I just tried this deck against an AI with boneyard, it was awesome, you can use a scarab to eat a phoenix which creates a skeleton which another scarab can eat and then yuo rebirth your ash into a phoenix and start again! Boneyard would be a good addition if it didn't cost so much

@ Terroking

Yeah, I've played around with it and haven't updated my original post.  The Graveyards are a little pointless since there's nothing to take advantage of your army (and since you already have a scarab army).  I tried removing one and upgrading the other, and other things, but haven't really settled.  It works, but it's a little boring.

@Mock Star

I've also messed around with the first deck and the Fire Shield has got to go.  With no other permanents, the Fire Shield rarely lasts 1 turn and it's just a wasted card.  (It's a giant bullseye for all the Explosions and Steals the other player has building up in their hand.)  You might want to replace it with another Firestorm, Explosion, regular Phoenix, or Cremation.  I think I like a single Rage Potion the best.  You can get those Momentum'd OTYs, beef up your Pharaoh, weaken something until it's bite-sized or...

...kill the other player with a 6/1 Ash.  <---  :))

edit: With a little more playing around it seems to work better when you replace the Scarabs with Photons and replace 2 Novas with Supernovas.
