IDEA:
ratcharmer
NOTES:
"Must be reset between going off" means that the card loses all other abilities after being triggered and gains the active ability "0: reset" which returns the trap to its active state.
Note that this means only 1 creature can be affected by each trap each round.
Creatures are evaluated in the order they attack, thus it is possible to protect an important creature if you can get it to attack last.
Although this permanent is not a shield, it is treated as one with regards to immortality, momentum etc.
SERIES:
If you don't know what this is, go ask Admiral Akbar

Mechanism-wise it's very similar to the poison trap, but with a different effect.

Here's the sprung cards:

I like it... welcome more traps.

Should make one for each element, and make it into a series.

I agree but i don't think they should take up the "shield" slot. If they do then you can only ever have 1 of 1 type out at a time and with that a 20% rate it way to low.

They don't take the shield slot, they only act as shields with regards to momentum and immortality.

These traps actually seem like a pretty good idea, cant wait for a series of them.

This card itself look pretty balanced to me.

So if there was 3 of these out there would be a 60% chance, then for the next creature (if the first was trapped) 40%, ect.

The math doesn't actually work out to 60%, since it would be three independent 20% chances, but it's close.

CURATOR COMMENT

To get to the Crucible:

- Fill the element in the table in words ie "Life"
- Match the text in the table to exactly that of the card image.

Questions / Comments / Suggestions

This card appeals to me.
Maybe its because I have a 450Lb Wireline trace snare that is quite capable of removing an extremity.
Definitely going in my toolbox if I take the work up again.

I was considering doing a series . . . but I've sort of run out of ideas. It really seems like at least  :darkness should have a trap card theme-wise, but I can't think of a good one right now. The only things I can think of are either one that  just deals damage, but can't be targeted (hidden trap?) or a drain-life type effect.

Let me know if you have ideas for traps in other elements . . .

I don't get why it is life. It has nothing to do with life.

The idea behind putting this one in :life is that it's a non-lethal trap, and that :life is generally associated with nature/outdoors.

Would you prefer it if I changed to name to something like "tangling vine"?

Lol, without realising I have already made a darkness variant in concealed trap / Garou Spider http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,11837.0.html
