Just to clarify because I have a title does not mean my word is law. It should always be tempered by common sense and advice from others.

As to the card the synergy is basically what you are after and makes it very useful. In a Rainbow having eclipse will hurt but if you know your opponent I would still chuck in a few of these if I was up against a Darkness or Death based deck.

As to having gravity that could be a good idea, But unsure.

what i trying is giving old abilities to be repeated in other elements i think the devour black is ok, and goes with the concept of the card, also making the ability a gravity one, will be adding another thing against him, and i dont think is needed, is well balanced as it is

and also the different element ability cost is already in the game toadfish/parasite both infect, one with air the other with death

I believe that it's ability should stay darkness because it makes sense, lore wise of course.
Otyugh devours creatures because it uses it size and enormus mouth to... well, devour them.
While Scarabs use their sheer numbers to chew at the enemey.
But this card just simpily engulfes it self around the creature. Like a shadow.

I like this one ^_^ I think it's pretty balanced and could make a pretty good deck combined with Sparks or Ball Lightnings. Since it starts small, and it's immaterial, it has a great balance of pros and cons.

It would be restricted to only a handful of creatures it can eat: Lycanthrope (as it first comes out), Forest Spirit (unupgraded), Ash eater, Lava Golem (1st turn), Photons, Sparks, Fate Egg, and Deja Vu (Unupgraded).
You missed scrabs and phoenix and unupgraded rustlers (or maybe they appeared/were changed after your post).  But I agree with the overall point.  I think this card is pointless unupgraded and a little weak upgraded.  It's noble to include weaker creatures and I wholeheartedly agree that most card design focuses on power cards.  You'd have to draw the upgraded soul, an eclipse, and a spark to make it workable, and that's just too much.

I think 0/1 with devour unupgraded and 0/2 upgraded with devour would at least warrant consideration in a unidark deck.  Probably should be 3 dark to summon though.

I like this one a lot, I might make it cost 2 :dark but thats just me, 1 seems a little much but I like the devour for its dark quanta, it makes me want this card in a deck

Personally I think this card is ridiculous. With my Curator hat on, it fits all the current requirements so gets to go to the Crucible.

I think it is not a rule to have the same quanta for each ability. Growth is a good example.
Who said devouring darkness doesn't exist. (You were eaten by a grue).
There are a lot of ways to buff this critter to be able to eat something, or just kick of with sparks.
So, it is fine. The unupped version is probably never used. But i don't see that as a problem.

Btw, this weakens the fate egg a little :D
Kael: if all new creatures are just stronger and stronger, it would make the Fate Egg and other similar effects stronger and stronger too.
It doesn't hurt if people add weaker than average creatures as long as they are stronger than the weakest one and have some utility.
