This card was inspired by rsnail, who in turn was inspired by my original Extinction (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,19606.0.html) card.

Think this could lead to some very interesting tactics!
Must say I really like this card, mixture of creature control, but also a bit of luck/gamble involved!

NAME:
Extinction
ELEMENT:
Death
COST:
6 :death
TYPE:
Permanent
ATK|HP:
TEXT:
Whenever a creature dies, if that creature was the only one of its type in the game, it becomes extinct.
NAME:
Extinction
ELEMENT:
Death
COST:
5 :death
TYPE:
Permanent
ATK|HP:
TEXT:
Whenever a creature dies, if that creature was the only one of its type in the game, it becomes extinct.
ART:
Evgeni Dinev, from website http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/images/Landscapes_g114-Lake_Of_Dead_p21795.html
http://www.freedigitalphotos.net/images/view_photog.php?photogid=1256
IDEA:
rohlfo and rsnail
NOTES:
counts for all creatures in the game, yours and opponents, effects both you and opponent. 'in the game' means on the playing field, not sure what it's officially called.
extinct: no player may summon a creature which has become extinct. (card just stays in hand)
if this permanent is destroyed, then all creatures can be summoned again.
SERIES:
will be added to environmental/nature series once complete
opinions/issues/etc
- cost?
- wording? think it can be worded better, unsure.
- too much cc!? make the 'extinct' factor for a creature last x turns? Don't like this idea, but otherwise might have many games where no-one can summon a creature :s

let's analyze this:
What does it work against?
1. Fractal
2. Firefly
3. Scarab

What works against it?
Deflagration, Pulvy, other PC

This might be just me, but i think the price should be 7 :death | 6 :death

Alternate wording:
When only one of a creature is on the field and dies, no other may be played (until this card is destroyed)
It is the greatest mystery of all...

This card is balanced. Don't forget that in order for this thing to even work, you need some kind of CC, as well as an ideal time to use it. Plague is the only true CC :death has to offer, so hard CC means that it would have to go out of element in order to work properly.

Quick question. How would this work with a Schrodinger's Cat? I I trigger Dead/Alive, and it's the only one in play, does that mean I can't play any more Schrodinger's Cats?
Perception is the source of misunderstanding.

Why, yes. I do have a Mindgate necklace. It's how I ninja everyone.

thanks for analysis/feedback :) alternate wording - I like the bit 'becomes extinct' where extinct is a new scenario. First bit I might use though when I make final adjustments

Good question.
I think Schrodinger's Cat should not become extinct when it triggers dead/alive because it hasn't left the playing field (is actually still alive...) not sure if that causes major issues with programming, but think that is how it should work with SC.

The way I see it - when SC 'dies', at that precise moment you couldn't play another if Extinction was in the game, but then it's alive again, and in play, so you can play another SC.

Simple, yet beautiful mechanic. I feel this one could potentially be implemented by zanz. And it's much more useful than the original one. Great work.

I like it. However, don't you think it is a little too powerful against monos and duos?
