Below are the submission of the various origins of the rare weapons and nymphs. Each person gets 5 votes to vote for the story they like the best. Please take your time to read through all of the stories.
Wow. I am generally surprised with the turn out for this competition. In fact, because of the large turn out, I cannot post all the stories in one post because it hits the max character length of 65535. So just as a note, the first two posts are all of the stories. Please read through them all before voting.Voting Is Closed!1 ) Long ago, terror ruled the land of the elementals. The reason of this was known by all, yet never spoken of. The great god Zanzarino had gone into hiding when his creation turned against him. He had created a new series of the magic-controlled decks. He called the first one nothing other than “Destroyer.” Destroyer had a different deck strategy every time an elemental played him. They all had one thing in common, though. They wielded only one weapon. Pulverizer. He enjoyed smashing the lower magic decks to pieces with his great weapon. All of the elementals cowered before the Pulverizer. One very dark and rainy night, a young hero was testing a deck with the new creature, found in the star of Pegasi when the star exploded, spreading quanta everywhere. The creature was named Crusader. After that, there was a knock at his door. There stood his father with despair in his eyes. His father asked him to meet the mayor of the village in the mayor’s home. When he got there, the mayor told him grave news. His sister had been killed by Destroyer’s Pulverizer. He was furious with Destroyer for just throwing away lives in the manor he did. The hero had one thing on his mind: revenge. The mayor warned him not to go try to fight Destroyer, but the effort was in vain. The hero stormed out of the house and went to his small hut. He grabbed his cards he was experimenting with and put them in his bag. For days, the hero ran. He ran all the way from the Kingdom of Light to the Planes of Aether. When he got to Aether’s capital city, the hero snuck through dark allies and walked casually to the Town Square. There, on exhibit, was the legendary Portal of Aether. This portal could take you anywhere on the planes of the elementals. The hero made a dash for the portal and went past the Phase Spiders guarding the portal. He jumped into the portal and went to the Seventh Plane. He wondered in this shattered world for months. One night, while the hero was sleeping, Destroyer came back from the Fifth Plane laughing at all the Half Bloods he had crushed. Destroyer found the hero and was pleasantly surprised by the hero’s presence. Something in the hero looked familiar. He had seen those bright green eyes somewhere. He realized it at once. The young girl he had swung his Pulverizer at. He let out a demonized laugh and the hero awoke. The young hero screamed in rage and threw 6 slips of paper out of his bag. All of the paper turned into armored figures that had a shield shaped like a four pointed star and they were wielding Pulverizers. The hero yelled for them to demolish Destroyer’s Pulverizer. The Crusaders swung their Pulverizers but they missed. Destroyer laughed and swung his weapon at the hero. The hero was crushed.
2 ) Once, many centuries ago, Artemis was traveling with her enchanted hunters. They came upon an old merchant, who offered them a place to stay for the night. Artemis, being as polite as she is, kindly accepted the offer. Soon after they settled in, the old merchant started to tell stories of his travels. He came upon a story about his travels through a mountainous land. He told of fighting a large wolf and becoming injured. The wolf had bitten part of his arm off, and he was bleeding badly. He soon managed to kill the wolf, but barely escaped with his life. As he came to the next mountain, the tallest of them all, he knew that if he ran into another animal, he would be killed. As he reached the peak, he noticed an odd bow frozen in the ice. He grabbed his ax and began to hack into the ice to obtain the weapon. After many hours of work, he managed to get to the bow. It was an odd blue color, but he knew it was powerful. As he pulled the bow from the ice, his arm was immediately healed. As he turned around from the ice to begin his journey down the mountain, he found a large bear standing before him. Much larger than the previous one he fought. Before he knew what he was doing, he pulled out the bow, notched an arrow, and killed the bear. He realized that in a time of need the bow would fight for him. Artemis was very intrigued by this story, and asked if he still had the bow. The merchant went into his tent and came out with a large, glowing, blue bow in his hands. His face was distorted and he had an evil look in his eyes. He slowly drew the bow and pointed it at Artemis. But he was too late, the goddess had known the power in the bow the moment she saw it. The bow was much too powerful for any human or god to wield. By the time the man had time to pull back the string; she was behind him and pulled the bow from his arms. She put the bow into an enchanted bag and carried it with her. She knew of this mountainous land that the old man had spoken of. After many months of traveling, the came upon the large mountain. The goddess left her hunters at the foot of the mountain and began the dangerous climb. As she reached the peak, she could feel the power humming in the air. As the placed the bow back into the ice, she realized how it had come into existence. There was, something, traveling throughout the world and gifting amazing places with the power to create weapons that signify them. This weapon represented air. And she knew that there were others, and she must find them. If the weapons fell in the wrong hands, it could be the end of the world as we know it; supposed gods could form and use the weapons to destroy heroes of battle. She set out to search for them, but they were never found. She never discovered the weapons, but she always knew they were in existence. Eventually, after years of traveling and searching for the other powerful weapons, she returned to the site of the bow. What she found their will haunt her forever. The bow, the all-powerful bow, was gone. Someone, somewhere, was using the bow for something. She never found the bow again, but always knew it was being used for battle. Do you know where it is?
3 )She was one of three sisters, child of Phorcys and Ceto and a merciless murderer of thousands innocent citizens.
Her gaze alone was enough to turn one to stone for eternity.
So she was feared all over the land, and wherever she went people would scream "It's Medusa! She's coming!" and run for their lives. But it was futile. Whole cities became extinct of life, only leaving statues of those gazed upon.
In the end, it wasn't her evilness that lead to her doom but her own strength. Because of her strength Zanzeus the half god wanted her head as a trophy. It was a furious battle, but thanks to his Reflective Shield and Lobomizer Zanzeus was able to take Medusa's head.
After Medusa was killed, all her victims were revived. But where the male ones were able to return to their old lives, the female inherited a small part of Medusa's power and lost all their memories.
They were feared for anyone looking in their eyes would turn to stone for a year. Hunted and Banished they run and hid in a deep cave praying and wishing to be saved.
Antagon heard their wishes, so he sealed their power and returned the memories. Thanking Antagon for his generousity they were able to return to their normal live.
Thousands of years have passed and very strong mages were searching for ways to unlock this power and gain an advantage in the ever lasting battle of elements.
Finally Terroking, the master of earth, was able to achieve the impossible! He broke the spell Antagon cast thousands of years ago. By synthesizing the blood of the offsprings of Medusa's female victims with the stones of a golem who was killed by the breath of a phoenix, he created a creature able to use Medusa's power.
Those creatures are called Auburn Nymphs.
4 )
There was a time when nymphs were unknown, they were rumored to exist but had never been found, until at one day Zanzarino met the Oracle. He seemed to posses a knowledge beyond all our understanding and foretold Zanzarino of a meeting with a nymph that day. Zanzarino knew nothing of nymphs and was curious, to say the least.
Following the directions of the Oracle Zanzarino entered a dark, forsaken place, it was a fearful place, with eyes glaring at him from everywhere, or so it seemed. Yet Zanzarino went deeper into the darkness, somehow he was allured by it, an irresistible attraction from out of the heart of this darkness. Zanzarino stopped walking as he suddenly noticed his march was slowed, he had entered a bog, the water felt oddly, it seemed to grant immense powers while slowly draining away your soul.
Enticed by this power Zanzarino entered the pool, when suddenly he could see a mysterious light from somewhere from the lake, it seemed to be black light, the sight of it was amazing. As Zanzarino swam closer, he saw what the Oracle meant, this was a nymph, in all it's dazzling beauty...
Suddenly Zanzarino wakes up in his house, but with no memory of how he got there but still senses a remnant of the power Zanzarino remembered at the lake. Puzzled by this mystery Zanzarino met with the Oracle once again, hoping for answers. But rather than answers the Oracle presented more mysteries, which is how Zanzarino encountered the rest of the nymphs, yet none ever appealed him as much as the black nymph...
5 )One day long ago while the great Zanzarino was still searching for rare weapons, he came across a dark cave with a warning sign. The sign read: WARNING. VAMPIRE IN CAVE. GO IN ONLY IF YOU DARE. Now, Zanzarino, being the bold and daring adventurer he is, decided to go in and find the vampire, hoping he might be able to get a rare weapon.
Zanzarino wandered deep into the cave until he found the lair of the vampire. At that point, the vampire emerged from his lair and greeted Zanzarino. The vampire had heard of Zanzarino from another explorer who dared to come into his lair and knew that he had rare nymphs and some rare weapons, and was still looking for some more. The vampire himself had his own rare weapon, the legendary Vamipre Dagger. The Vampire Dagger was created by this vampire and the vampire infused some of his powers into it, allowing it to heal as much as it damaged. The vampire, wanting some of Zanzarino's rare weapons and nymphs for himself, made a deal with Zanzarino that he was sure he would win. The deal was that the vampire and Zanzarino were to fight. If the vampire won, he would gain 5 of Zanzarino's nymphs and 5 of his rare weapons. If Zanzarino won, he would take the Vampire Dagger. Zanzarino, being on a great quest for rare weapons, quickly took the offer and prepared himself for the fight.
Zanzarino had a few of his weapons and nymphs with him, so he decided to use a few. He took out of his travel bag an Eagle Eye, one of his favorite weapons and a Life Nymph, which allowed him to attack multiple times in the same strike. Zanzarino attacked the vampire with large, abundant attacks, but the Vampire Dagger was just as good a weapon and healed the vampire as much as it hurt Zanzarino. The Vampire Dagger was also smaller that the Eagle Eye, which was a large bow, and allowed the vampire to attack with agility and accuracy, maximizing the Dagger's attack and healing.
Fearing defeat from too much healing done by the Vampire Dagger to the vampire, Zanzarino went to his second favorite weapon, Arsenic, which poisoned the defender as well as hurting them. While the Vampire Dagger healed the vampire from the damage done by the Arsenic, it could not negate the poison. Soon Zanzarino had stacked up large amounts of poison on the vampire. He needed to finish him off, so he went to another one of his weapons, Titan. Titan had a reputation as a finisher, and that was why Zanzarino went to it. Again, Zanzarino furiously attacked the vampire, chipping away at his remaining health. But Zanzarino could not defeat the vampire while he still had the mighty Vampire Dagger healing him after all of his attacks.
Zanzarino thought to himself as he was blocking on of the vampire's attacks, "I cant defeat him unless I destroy his Dagger and stop him from healing himself." But then, Zanzarino realized something. "Destroy," he muttered to himself as he reached into his bag to pull out his Pulverizer, which had the ability to destroy enemy weapons and shields. With a grin on his face, Zanzarino slashed his Pulverizer at the Vampire Dagger, and it burst into pieces. Zanzarino dropped his Pulverizer and picked his Titan up, which he began to use to bring the long, epic battle to an end. Finally, with his health dwindling and nothing to defend himself with, the vampire cried out, "Enough! I surrender! I shall make you a new dagger, as you rightfully deserve it."
Satisfied with his duel, Zanzarino sat on the floor of the cave and watched with elation as the vampire smithed him a new Dagger, with the same ability as the first one. After the vampire had finished making the blade, there was a bright flash of light that illuminated the entire cave. Zanzarino knew then that the vampire had just infused his powers into the blade. The vampire walked over to Zanzarino and said to him. "Take it. It is yours. Make good use of it." Jubilantly, Zanzarino took the Vampire Dagger from the vampire, thanked him for the battle and for remaking the Dagger, and wandered off to find other rare weapons. Zanzarino was much more successful after having the Vampire Dagger for he could now heal and attack at the same time. Zanzarino now had a new favorite weapon, and it was the Vampire Dagger.
6 )The Sword of Death.
The traveler stood there, looking around. He was holding a simple, common sword. Big sword, but who cares. The bigger the better!.. Well, so he thought. He was hearing, quietly, in the middle of a forest. He was tossed out of his city for using “Dark Magic”. From what he knew, only 12 people like him were know, and they all had their special powers. Fire, Gravity, Water, Earth, Light, Darkness, Aether, Time, Air, Entropy.
He knew them all. He didn’t get to fight them, he refused. He was on a search for a far more annoying element. The element he hated, he disliked, the one he was a complete opposite of. The element was Life.
He, as you should have guessed, was a Death Elemental.
Flashbacks are what they are, flashbacks. The man stopped bothering about that and just went on. Quiet. Waiting. Hearing. He finally saw it – The Elemental he was looking for.
Obviously, he wasn’t expecting that. The Elemental was a woman, and not a man, as all the others. But there was no mistaking it – she had a green… thing, around her, and all the Horned Frogs and Cockatrices seemed even more jumpy around her. It was her.
He leaped out of the bush, sword on hand. He charged toward the woman, but all of a sudden a single Staff appeared in front of him, blocking his path. And another one. And again. It repeated, until he saw 6 copies of one single Staff blocking his path. And the Lady asked..
“Who are you Sir, who lunges at me with a Sword above his head, thinking he can kill me? And who are you Sir, which came for me so suddenly without a warning?”
The man then answered
“I’m your complete opposite, the purple light that counters the green. I’m your complete opposite, the one that will go and finish this madness you call “Horned Frogs” or “Epinephrine”. I’m the man that takes the life from all the creatures that follow and obey you without question. I’m the Death Elemental, and you better remember it, even though you’ll never have a chance to remember it after I leave this place.”
The lady laughed. The man charged once again, but every hit he managed to give was healed a few seconds after. The battle continued and the man eventually lost. The lady then said,
“The only reason you lost is that you are not what you claim you are – a Death Elemental. I feel bad for you, the Gods and False Gods must have misunderstood the orders on who to pass the Death gift to. Search me, sir, when you have a sword that truly goes with the name of “Death Elemental.”
The man left the battlefield sad. He wandered through the lands, far and wide, until he came to a Lake of Poison. He then threw his sword inside the lake, asking
“Oh, Gods, that you may forgive me that I couldn’t do what I told you I would. Please hear my pray and make this sword a sword that can beat the Life Elemental. Oh, Gods, that you may forgive me that I couldn’t do what I told you I would. Please hear my pray…”
For hours and hours he stood there repeating the same words. He furiously took the blade out, but the poison didn’t hurt him. Skeletons and Scorpions, with bottles of poison, came out of the ground and charged at him. But they were helping.
It was night. The moon was there, standing high in the sky. No cloud to bother it. The creatures, the army of the Elemental had a small bright on their backs. And a creepy light on their eyes, too.
The man went back to where he found the lady. He didn’t attack, but walked at her and said
“You asked me to get a better blade, and so I did. I’m back, and I won’t be leaving until I win from this place.I'm back and I'll be sure that me and Arsenic get the chance to win. And if I lose, I won’t get up, as this is my last try. Let’s start the battle we never had the chance to begin properly.”
She agreed.
The Staves flew at him again, but his sword was powerful. Every hit was healed, but she was getting slower. The creatures, specially the scorpion, were dealing damage. He understood what it was – Poison. His blade was now covered in poison, poison to the very core. Every hit marked the Lady.
Eventually, she lost. She accepted defeat gracefully, saying
“You, Death Man, was right. You are sure deserving of the title “Death Elemental”. The one who needs training is me, and so I shall retreat. One day, however, I will return. To defeat you or not, I don’t know.”
She retreated to a place where she could honor her skills, and someday defeat the Death Elemental.
What happened to the man, you may ask? Once his quest was over, he started searching for the other elementals with his new sword... – Arsenic. If he got to beat them all or not… That, my friends, is a story for another day.
The End.
7 )The day you have waited so long for has finally come. For decades you have charted the trajectory of the object, which started so far away but at last drew near.
You think back to your childhood and your first inclination that not all stories are true. Yes, every culture has a creation myth, but is there any truth in them? You were determined to find out. You studied hard and graduated at the top of your class, earning the respect of your small village but more importantly, the opportunity to join the educated elite. As your studies at University drew to an end, you were chosen by Them.
Sharing Their knowledge was not something They took lightly. No, They hid it like the rare elements They studied. By joining Their ranks, you gained access to secret tomes as vast as the universe itself. And you read. Years spent in the flickering candlelight enlightened your mind. Of all the elements, you chose to dedicate your life to Gravity.
Perhaps it was your need for laws, mechanics, math and physics. Or maybe just your simple desire for giving structure to the universe. Regardless, you studied in secrecy until the basic laws of Gravity were clear to you.
And yet, the more you learned the more you realized how little you understood. You delved far into the theory. They supported you, at first. By now They had long since shunned you from their ranks, declared you insane and exiled you. But there is genius in insanity and you were sure the time would come when you could prove the deepest tenets of Elemental Gravity.
And that time was near. For years you calculated the orbit of this celestial object and you were sure it would strike the planet at some point. Your rudimentary equipment never gave you enough accuracy to determine when and where the object would descend, so you were forced to wait.
But tonight you see the brilliant lights trailing behind it as it plummets to the earth. You saddle your steed, throw on your cloak and are out the door before it even lands.
As you ride, the darkness is illuminated by the tail streaking towards the heavens. Before long, the object crashes in a brilliant explosion. You know there might be others with less noble pursuits trying to take the remnants as you speed onwards at the fastest pace you can.
Using calculations, you plot a course. Day after day you ride without sleep. On the seventh day on your seventh horse, you reach the crater.
Aw inspiring. You had never seen a crater this large in the earth before. As you descend into this fire charred scar, you see another seeker. He tries to carry the fist sized stone but struggles tremendously. You approach him.
“Get away, she’s mine!” he yells.
“Easy now”, you respond, resolving yourself. “I must study it. You will give it to me”
“Ha and who are you?” The man cries.
“No one.” You respond cautiously.
As you approach, he pulls a dagger and threatens you, but you bury your fears in the black hole of your psyche. You calmly disarm the man. Books were not the only thing you studied, thankfully.
“Help me and I will help you,” you tell the man. “You will get your reward. Every good action has an equal and opposite reaction”
The man reluctantly agrees, as if he had a choice. Together you managed to drag the small, alien boulder to the top of the crater. You give the man 20,000 electrum. A lifetime’s worth for someone of his intelligence.
You make the long journey back to your laboratory and finally are alone with the stone. At last you begin the battery of tests you had hoped to run. This alien object was indeed made of a material unknown to even Them. Its density is impossibly high, explaining why it took two people to simply roll it. Further tests reveal to you that this small stone can penetrate any known substance on earth. You carefully contain it using powerful magnets now that you are aware of how nearly unstoppable it is.
But testing is just the means to an end. This object gave you the ability to answer those nagging questions They had told you not to ask. You begin to understand the universe. And now that you have this knowledge you want to prove your genius.
You fashion the stone into a mighty weapon. And with it you make your triumphant return to Them. It easily bypasses their defenses and strikes through their walls. Their shields are no match and you watch with delight as they hide.
Perhaps you are a little unbalanced after all? But you do not want to destroy their library, amassed over the ages. You simply want to prove them wrong.
“There is nothing to fear,” You announce. “I have come to show you my discovery. I have learned the secrets of our universe and you shall no longer ridicule my ‘madness’.”
As they slowly gather round you, studying the weapon, one of the most aged elders speaks, “It is as the prophecy said in the very first book. The unstoppable Titan has finally arrived.”
“Prophecy?” you say. “This is no prophecy, this is science. Nay, this is the law of Gravity, old man”
As you turn to leave, you chuckle to yourself. “Titan is a fine name for this rarest of weapons though.”
Perhaps those origin stories are not without value after all.
8 )
The Ocean and the MoonA small boy runs across the beach, lapping his feet in the oceans waves. And the ocean, lifeless, simply claws at the ground, emotionless, empty, ever eroding the earth. But it was not always this way.
Long ago the Ocean spirit was a lively one. She danced, and played, and tickled the earth as she rolled up against his sturdy banks. Because long ago, the ocean was in love. With the moon.
The Ocean and the Moon were perfect for each other. Pushing and pulling and rhythmically matching, the Moon's life revolved around the Ocean, and the Ocean's waters in turn would spin round the world just for a mere instance of being closer to his being.
But they never touched.
And one, sad day, the Moon gazed down on his Ocean lover and said "I must go. I will forever love you, but I must go."
And as the sun came up, the Ocean was confused. But that night she realized what horrors were about to transpire. For when the moon arose, a small sliver was missing.
"What happened!?" She cried. But the Moon simply smiled down and said "I will forever love you, but I must go."
And so, on the first night of the moons absence, the Ocean cried.
She cried, and cried, and cried, for three days, pouring the very essence of her loneliness onto the banks of the earth, and to her surprise, on the morning of the fourth day, a little girl was there. And the little girl shared in the Oceans loneliness, crying all her own. The little girl gave the ocean courage, so that night she looked up to the heavens, and saw the side of the moon's face was gone. And she cried.
She cried and cried, for three days, pouring the very essence of her desire for the moon to live. And the little girl on the bank of the shore cried too, but as her tear hit the ground, another girl arose. This girl was elusive, evasive, she looked inquisitively at the world, and shedding but one tear, made a small shell immortal. And the ocean saw the immortality, and it gave the ocean courage. So that night she looked up to the heavens, and saw one quarter of the moons face was gone. And she cried.
On the seventh and eighth days she missed it's light, and upon the shore appeared a girl who returned light to anything that had gone dark. And the light made the ocean look skyward once again. But upon seeing the moon, barely half of himself, the ocean cried and wished she could regrow the moon. And upon the shore appeared a girl who could turn the world to stone. And on the eleventh day the ocean was so confused, so unstable, upon the shore appeared a girl who was followed by a fair, lovely perfume, that exploded with a passion of fury whenever the girl became annoyed.
But it was on the fourteenth day the ocean made it's biggest regret. Looking at the moon, now no more than a sliver, the oceans instability and anger came to a climax and the ocean wished it dead. And upon the shore came a girl who murdered all she touched. And the next night, when the ocean looked to the sky, the moon was gone. All through the night it was dark. And cold. And the ocean wept.
She was angry, and she cried tears of rage, screaming it wasn't fair, and upon the shore appeared a girl almost self destructive in wrath. And on the sixteenth day, she was scared of what she'd created, wishing she could collapse into herself and disappear, and upon the shore was a girl who was so introverted she could suck the very soul out of a person trying to escape inward. But on the eighteenth day things changed. The ocean looked to the sky and weeped tears of joy. For a small sliver of the moon had returned.
She immediately wished she could undo all the hurtful things she'd done, spawning upon the shore a girl who inverted the very essence of everything she touched. And the ocean wished she could donate part of herself to help heal the moon, and upon the shore appeared a girl who turned beings into creature of the night, feasting on others youth. And the ocean wished she could see the future, and know what was going on, and upon the shore came a girl who could see vast expanses of time and space for there were no secrets to her. And the ocean wished, with all her heart, time would speed up so the moon would return, and upon the shore appeared a girl who made snails slide faster than a man could run. And as the moon approached full, and the twelve girls born of tears frolicked on the bank, the oceans hopes rose unbelievably high. For on the 28th day, it looked as the thought the moon had returned.
But as that final sliver of the moon arose in the night sky, and he was full and glorious again, a new sliver had already appeared on his face. He was already eroding. He was never whole again. And he never spoke to the ocean again.
The ocean's waves pounded furiously on the earth, and her twelve daughters scattered across the land. But after years the ocean finally gave up hope.
Should you visit the beach today, you will see the ocean. Lifeless, it simply claws at the ground, emotionless, empty, ever eroding the earth. But it was not always this way.
9 ) Turquoise Nymph was the youngest of the eleven sisters.
She had always been different, as everyone was much older than her. Even though she was the most doted on in the family, she had no skills, so she wanted to learn some. She liked Time, so she knocked on the the door of Golden.
"Golden, may I learn how to make precognitions?" she asked hopefully. Golden was understanding and was least likely to reject her.
"Oh, what do we have here! Little Turquoise wants to learn how to make precognitions
! Though I doubt you are suitable in making Time Magic, I can teach you if you want,"Golden exclaimed cheerfully.
Turquoise jumped in glee. Her sister had fnally agreed to teach her. She spent no time wasting preparing all the apparatus need as Golden told her to do so.
"Add two drops of Time quanta," said Golden.
Turquoise obeyed and carefully took the beaker of Time quanta from the Time Factory in her sister's room and poured two drops of the golden liquid into her conical flask.
"Good, you're doing just fine! Now take your Eternity and say the magic words : 'Invertire il Tempo', " said Golden.
"Invertire il Tempo?" Turquoise said awkwardly.
Suddenly, the ground began to shake. Golden light shined from the Eternity. Turquoise squinted her eyes. The mysterious carvings on the Eternity began to glow with an eerie light. She could barely make out the words of Golden. "Point the Eternity at the flask!" she shouted.
Turquoise lifted the heavy weapon and pointed it at the flask. However, the tip of the pointy weapon knocked over the flask and the liquid spilled over the table.
"Not over my Procrastination shield!" Golden shouted.
But it was too late. The magical liquid had dripped all over the Procrastination. Turquoise thought she heard an explosion. She tried to open her eyes, but her eyelids were as heavy as stone. Deep purple pain seared through her body. Then it went black.
And then she woke up. She opened her eyes, and all she saw was a vast expanse of sand. She got up on her weary legs, still holding her Eternity. She spotted a traveler and immediately ran towards him.
Turquoise asked the traveler,"Do you know where the castle is?"
"What castle?" replied the traveler.
"You know, the famous castle of Nymphland?" Turquoise said. The castle should be a well know landmark.
"What Nymphland? Don't kid with me, young one." The traveller started to sound irritated.
"Where is this place?" Turquoise finally asked.
"This place? Well of course its Egypt, were near the Nile!" said the traveller.
Turquoise was shocked. Had she time travelled into Ancient Egypt?
"Wait, is is that the sacred Eternal Staff you're holding?" exclaimed the traveller, "The Oracle had predicted that a lost girl will come holding the sacred Eternal Staff. You must be the lost girl! Oh, what can I do for you?Take this Pendulum." He took out a small pendulum and gave it to her. "Now let me take you to Anubis!"
"Wait..."shouted Turquoise,"This isn't a sacred Eternal Staff... is it?" Before she knew it, she was being dragged by the traveller and heading towards the city.
Soon, she reached a temple. A voice came from inside. "I hear you are the lost girl with the sacred Eternal Staff. I am Anubis, the sacred Time priest. Do not be afraid. For you, are The Chosen One."
A man with a jackal-shaped head walked out. The Great Anubis.
"M..Me?" Turquoise exclaimed.
"Yes, you. You will be the one who will help us. I don't know how, but this is what the great Oracle has said. Come with me." said Anubis.
Turquoise followed Anubis deeper and deeper into the temple. Soon, she reached a large hall. Now," Anubis said," I will teach you the magic of Quintessence."
Anubis and Turquoise trained day and night. Soon, she was able to use quintessence. She was very happy with her new skill.
"Your training is almost done," said Anubis.
Suddenly, a man came running in frantically. "Anubis! Oh great Anubis, Osiris has come yet again! His Scarabs are destroying the city, and our greatest warriors are dying!"
"Who's Osiris?" asked Turquoise.
"He brings destuction! Come and help us fend him off!" Anubis cried.
As they ran out of the temple, the temple started collapsing, and Scarabs swarmed in.
"Use what I have taught you!" said Anubis.
Turquoise immediately started chanting an Ancient spell, and she felt power glow inside her. She felt indestructable.
At last, the pillars of the temple gave way, and the temple collapsed at their feet. Thankfully, they made it out just in time.
"Use the sacred Eternal staff!" shouted Anubis.
Turquoise suddenly remebered what Golden had taught her. " Invertire il Tempo," Turquoise said firmly. And again, her Eternity glowed a magnificent golden. She pointed the large staff at Osiris.
"What? Not the Eternal staff!" said Osiris. There was a golden beam of light.
And suddenly Osiris was gone.
"You have saved our city!" cried Anubis.
"I..I did?"Turquoise stammered, not believing what she had did.
All the villagers in the city started cheering for her. Turquoise could not help but feel proud.
"But now, you must go back."Anubis said, You will be remembered.
Anubis took out a scroll and started chanting the hieroglyphics on the scroll. A warp appeared. "Go into the portal. And you will go back to where you once were."
"Goodbye Anubis. I will remember you too." She walked into the portal. Strange lights flickered, then went off, and everything turned dark.
The morning sunshine seeped into her room. She woke up in bed. She wondered if it was all a dream. She reached into her pocket and found a small rusty pendulum.
And that was how Turquoise Nymph came to be.
10 )First Recorded Sighting of the White Nymph
--Extract from the Journal of Mosquitino (1824-1890)--
It was dawn when I woke. Quite dark it was too. The village was but a blur in the distance, but I – being a time elemental – was not hindered or intimidated by distance. After all, what is distance but the passing of time?
Like always, it surprised me when I reached the village, a giant solid structure breaking through my wander of thought. This statement, while figurative, could be taken quite literally as well. It was no coincidence that the first people I properly met were the healers of the village. But pain is temporary, and my nose is now firmly attached to my face again.
While I initially suspected the village to be nothing more than a group of commoners, I was swiftly corrected by their expertise in healing. These were light elementals, but nothing like the obnoxious, self centred ones of the city. They were humble, and their skills were unmatched in areas untouched by the ones known to us.
But, their smiles, although bright and welcoming, seemed somehow forced. Often, I would catch them gazing wistfully at the sky. It was then I noticed how dark it was. The sun should have been at the height of its arc, with golden rays of light floating gracefully down to earth. But, instead there was an almost unnatural darkness. For them, it must have been a living nightmare.
The village was my home for many months. I was fascinated by both the people, and their situation. A few times, I thought I saw a mysterious figure wearing a white gown, who seemed to glow among the darkness. But whenever I turned, she was gone. I learned that the darkness had plagued the village for almost 4 years, which would become 5 on December the 21st. I felt a premonition here, but I forced myself to ignore it, and not bring false hope to the villagers.
But, when I awoke on the 21st, nothing seemed different at first. The sky was still dark. In fact, nothing unusual happened until I raised my head away from my breakfast, only to be scared out of my wits by the mysterious woman sitting in front of me. She was elegant and calm as I cleaned the milk I spat out off of my lap and face. And she spoke, and I will never forget her words, or the silky manner in which she spoke them.
“Good Morning Mosquitino. I have been watching you, as I have watched this village suffer for the last 5 years. Despite their troubles, they never once departed, in search of an easier life. I was wise to grant them my sword, so many years ago, in the guise of an old dying man. But, I too have been cursed since then. I am forbidden from direct contact with my people, although I was born of their spirits. I am forever bound to provide sanctuary to them, for our life forces are intertwined, and it pains me to not be able to help them.
But, you Mosquitino, you are unbound, and pure of heart. Could you present to them, my gift?”
Here, not for the first time, I tried to speak. After many incomprehensible sounds, including one that sounded uncannily like a rooster, I gave up due to her silent giggles and gave a slight nod.
“We all have light inside of us, burning brightly, and this bottle contains the fuel to truly make it shine. All you must do is open it at the campfire tonight. I regret that I cannot do it myself, but I am sure you will be fine. But now, I must leave. I must bid you goodbye. It was good talking to you”
She left me to ponder her last words, wondering what I had managed to say of value among my frequent coughs, sputters and incoherent syllables.
Needless to say, I went to the campfire under her wishes. There was energy among the people of the village, but this was not matched by the fire, flickering pathetically at their feet. The jar was in my jacket, and I slowly started to twist the lid. The light never seemed to escape from the jar, but slowly, light began emanating from the people of the village. Although on paper, it sounds slightly off-putting, let me now say, that I have never, seen anything more beautiful in my life.
As the villagers slowly realised what was happening, I left silently. I felt like this was their private time, and it was my time to continue my journeys. As I left, I saw one figure, an old man. He was the only one not ecstatic, but he gave an unnaturally beautiful smile, with hints of laughter at its ends. This smile stayed in my mind, as I walked far away, past the village, past the mountains, past the cities. And to this day, if I ever feel shrouded in darkness, I picture that smile, that laughter, and I feel… Hope.
11 ) In a secret laboratory on the border between the incomprehensible swirling land of
and the fetid, dead, marshes of
two scientists, a mind flayer and a purple dragon were standing between large cylindrical tanks holding abominations viewing their latest creation. they had incorporated aflotoxin into the genes of a simple gnome rider. "we have created true life!" said the dragon, "not just these idiot abominations who are only minions, we have created a sentiment being of immense power!" "I agree," said the mind flayer, "It is truly amazing." taking a break from their work, they left the Grey Nymph in its cylinder. As soon as they left, it opened its dark soulless eyes and carefully reached toward the edge of the cylinder it was being held in. As soon as it touched the cylinder the glassed turned a mottled green-gray and exploded outward. The gray nymph walked past the rows of abominations, leaving a trail of death as its hand touched each individual cage, leaving only clumps of festering cells behind. it was never seen again, although there are stories of all the fish in a lake dying overnight, it gradually became a subject of old wives tales, living in the land between reality and un-reality forevermore...
Eons after the Grey Nymph disappeared from the land, Zanzarino decided to make a new spell, LaFire, enraged by this, the mighty knight ddevans96 decided to stop him, because of the damage it would wreak on the WoE. ddevans96 traveled far and wide searching for something that would stop this. Eventually ddevans96 happened by chance apon an old crone staring into the small, dim of a smoldering campfire. "Old crone, what is your name" asked ddevans96. "scarygirl" she replied. "Egad!" ddevans96 said, "its the all powerful right hand to zanzarino!" "no. that is someone else" she replied. "I am merely an apprentice to the oracle. I know of which you seek, in the dark mountains, in the middle of death's swamp, there is a sleep capsule, in which lies the Grey Nymph.""Thank you" replied. so ddevans96 traveled to the mountain of death, ruled over by mighty king Mrblond. "May i enter?" asked ddevans96. "yes" was Mrblond's mono-syllabic reply. so he did. He walked the 132 steps down to the Grey Nymphs room and opened her sleep-camber. "Who dares disturb my beauty sleep!" she pouted. "I do" replied ddevans96 "wil you help me destroy LaFire?" he asked. "sure," she replied "as long as you clear your cache." so ddevans96 did. "will you destroy it now?" ddevans96 aked. "no need. it was all a prank that Kuroaitou and Dragoon1140 pulled of anyways" said Grey Nymph. and then she went back to sleep.
12 ) Ages ago in the Elements world there were no false gods or elementals to play creatures, permanents, and spells. Instead, creatures roamed freely, and spells were nonexistent. Usually, creatures would never attack one another. However, certain groups of evil creatures were constantly at war. The Pack of Otyughs deep beneath the crust of the earth would terrorize anyone that came near them. Even more infamous was the Pufferfish School; they infected anyone in the water around them. However, the twelve strongest kinds of creatures banded together to try to stop war in the Elements world. They were the twelve different nymphs, united in a group named the Tribe.
The Tribe was a powerful group, but they were fighting a losing battle. There were only a half dozen of each kind of nymph: less than one-hundred nymphs overall. They were often devoured or infected by different creatures. Thus, the nymphs created weapons designed to assist them in battle. Most of the nymphs crafted very strong weapons to destroy evil creatures. The aether nymphs, however, had no success. Aether quantum was very hard to find and the nymphs had little energy for constructing weaponry.
The Tribe, with the new weapons, was able to stop creatures from attacking eachother until, one day, something went wrong. The Otyughs, Pufferfish, Scarabs, Parasites, and Viruses allied together to defeat the Tribe. A scout for the Tribe found out that the five groups, now called the Legion, would fight the Tribe in just two days. The nymphs would be sure to lose if they couldn’t find an aether weapon.
There were rumors of an aether creature with an unparalleled ability. If the nymphs would be able to transform the creature into a weapon they could destroy the Legion. Searching for the aether creature, the nymphs headed to its rumored location, The Eternal Cave. Unfortunately, there was very little quantum of most elements. One by one the nymphs had to turn back because they were unable to thrive with such little quantum of their element. By the time they reached the creature, there was just one Golden Nymph and one Black Nymph remaining.
“Welcome. They call me Loboto,” the aether creature said. “I’m surprised you made it this far,” he continued. “This cave has such little quantum. I’ve had to hold on to everything I can find. I don’t like to waste my quantum on any average creature. Of course, there are exceptions.” The Black Nymph knew that this creature could not be trusted. She rose her hands into the air, summoning the darkness quantum nearby. She faded into the shadows and sent a wave of darkness at Loboto. It was interrupted by a silver mass of aether. The darkness shrunk and faded inside the giant sphere of aether. The sphere struck the Black Nymph, electrocuting her and removing her ability.
“You’re not the first to try to use your ability on me. I see the occasional parasite or scarab try to attack me. There are extreme cases where I have to resort to violence. Of course, I don’t like to use up my quantum. It’s my quantum! I need my quantum!” “Why can’t you live in another cave?” the Black Nymph said. “You can always find a location with more quantum in the environment.” “He took all of the quantum for himself! He’s a miser!” the Golden Nymph shouted. She drew her Eternity and summoned the time quantum around her. Small golden blocks of time emanating from the weapon moved towards Loboto. He tried to fight the Eternity but was useless against it. Finally, the blocks of time surrounded him.
“It’s…true...” Loboto said as he faded back in time. “Just let me have…my…quantum.” Loboto was gone, but only for a couple seconds. He then reappeared as a weapon. Suddenly, quantum of every element left Loboto and filled the cave. The Golden Nymph used her Eternity to return the Black Nymph’s ability. The two nymphs returned to the Tribe headquarters. The new aether weapon was very popular. It was first called Loboto the Miser but soon shortened to the Lobotomizer. Because of its ability to remove a skill from a creature, it was priceless against the Legion. The Tribe was able to save the Elements world from chaos.
One day…I shall have my revenge on these fools…they might control me now…but I shall gain freedom… and become the weapon of a true master…I’m no ordinary weapon…I am the Lobotomizer…
13 )In the small town of Transylvania there was the castle of vampires that sat atop the highest hill. The man that lived there had died a long time ago right after he had divorced his wife. His wife on the other hand had never been seen by anybody, before or after his death. They only knew her as Barbara Nikolos, but when ever she signed her name she signed it as BN. She continued on but whenever a boyfriend or husband left her they died shortly there after. Finally just before she left one of her boy friends Wanda Nikolos (her sister) who signed her name as WN started to go out with him. He did not die, but for some reason he became sensitive to sunlight, and garlic and needed to constantly eat raw meat. Finally after 3 more of her boyfriends died she was called upon by the court. When she showed up she was dressed in all black. Everyone in the courtroom was blinded by her beauty. As her elegant body seemed to float across the floor to he stand she noticed her sister sitting in the courtroom next to her ex-boyfriend. "Please come sit on the stand so the defendants attorney may ask you some questions" said the judge. She complied and just walked over without saying a word. The defendant started asking questions. " Did you love any of your past boyfriends?" She just answered by nodding her head no. She just nodded her head yes and no all the while staring at her ex-boyfriend. As the court stopped Wanda stood up and yelled," We are Nymphs. My sister will grant life at the pursuit of having to kill others. I grant healing at the expense of using my own energy. I have been keeping her ex-boyfriend alive by doing so. As you can see he has all the cases of classic vampirism. Guards take her away." As they reached towards her she yelled," You will not get away with this you . . . . WHITE NYMPH!" Then she faded into mist and disappeared never to be seen again. Wanda is still healing the man, but her sister was never to be seen again.
