Please post your competition ideas here.
Before you do, it might be a good idea to take a quick look at the old competitions to see whether or not your idea has been used already.
Thanks.

Card design competition for a specific element. Like "Card design competition: Gravity!" or something. If this ever happens, I'm taking credit, tough.
-
Fastest win against (AI opponent here)? Like a "Submit a Video" thing?
-
Most purify counters, highest bonewall counter, all creature stat (atk+hp) add up to get the highest.
-
Biggest Chimera ever
-
An elements based quiz (laaame)
-
Biggest Chimera ever
499|499. The new version coded creatures so that you can't get stats higher than 499.
Hm... I have an idea, and I don't think this has been done before: Design a Series, up to 6 cards. For this competition, you must find another forum member to be your partner. The two of you will collaborate on your card ideas. If a "team" wins, then both partners receive the award icon.
-
Another video competition, but rather then making it completely open ended, have a certain requirement outside of just making it Elements.
Perhaps the video should be about a specific creature?
-
Design a deck off of a theme, like the Shard competition, except with entire decks.
By the way, what happened to the Conpetitions Archive?
-
firstly i think the quiz idea is awesome!
secondly competition to get em against every single fg (no trainer ) can use different decks.
highest :aether
or :air
or :darkness
or :death
or :earth
or :entropy
or :fire
or :gravity
or :life
or :light
or :time
or :water
or highest combined

Designing a completely new element. Participating groups should choose the element, design cards, spells, art, everything.
-
Redesign upgraded cards' art. Entrants pick one upgraded card that has the same art as it's unupgraded version and give it new art.
You could either do this for every card in the game, or per element. Personally, I'd say per element otherwise you might not get many repeated cards and it'll be hard to compare which is the best as they'd all be for different cards. Pillars not included because they just got new artwork.

Another art competition would be nice. Plus who else wants to see Puffer Fish actually become a fish and lose the feet?
-
no. Teh feet iz cuteh.
-
what about those elements be speed and slow?
or
hot and cold
or speed and intelegence...
-
no. Teh feet iz cuteh.
Teh feet iz weirdz.
Also, I like the upgraded card redesign competition idea.

Best use of one or more nymphs in a deck (note, no nymphs tears, one nymph must be played from the hand)
Winner more likely to be chosen from an element in which the nymphs do not recieve much use (eg :aether and :death)
Hopefully that will help avoid overuse of a deck designed to get a quinted :entropy or :air nymph as fast as possible.
And :aether isn't impossible. Think of a duo situation (therfore better than anubis-unless with time) where many creatures need to be quinted. It isn't that hard.
Same with :death. Once one aflatoxin is in place, more will just speed up, and aflatoxins do 2 damage a turn, helping kill any surviving creatures.
These little hints arent for everyone, just for people who read this board though, so shhh (Unless SG wants this posted on the competition thread)

I have a couple of ideas, but they might be too difficult to implement:
'Deciphering':
There will be 10-20+ sentences/phrases that each refer to a card, element, False God, or anything else that relates to the Elements forum or game. The sentences themselves may be incoherent, riddling, and or completely whimsical and lengthy. However, these sentences themselves are directly correlated to a certain topic or idea presented in-game (or perhaps on the forums as well), and the player must figure out how to decipher the codes/sentence's idea and decide what these sentences are related to in order to 'win' the competition. (Person with the most correctly deciphered codes win the competition)
An easy example:
"A nasty trick; it makes attacks twisted; the elemental recovers."
A-n-t-i-m-a-t-t-e-r. Each word's starting letter refers to this.
Another example:
"Halo. Petrify. Hog."
Rearrangement of the letters of a famous deck: 'Ray of Light/Hope'.
"If you were a FG, what would you say?"
Participants try to make up a memorable quote for 1-5 False Gods - specifically, if you randomly had to face them after hitting the Level 6 option on the menu, what would be the first (or last) thing that they would say? Entries can have any tone of voice, but must stay true to the characteristics or 'purposed' personality of the False Gods. Votes will go on based on the most original quotes as well as quotes you'd want to see in game; if you could theoretically see a line of text from the False God you have to face after spinning them in the Oracle, what would it be?

antimatter first and basilisk blood for second(what i guessed) might not be right
EP hardcore voice like a war vet: "im reborn from the ashes" "ill stay down... but not for long"
Dark Matter: "ill rush u out" "i cant be stopped"
Elidnis: "i start out small but soon ill be bigger than u could ever imagine" "why
u look so chilly?"
Hermes: " i might be slow but once i get going im unstoppable" "ill scorch you"

Best April Fools Card Submission :P
-
Design a card that has its name starting with K, X, Y, or Z.
Notice that there are no cards starting with those four letters. :(
-
Design a completely new element.
It has to have:
1 - Weapon
1/2 - Shield
1 - Dragon
1 - Alchemy Spell
1 - Nymph
1 - Pillars
1 - Pendulums
1/3 - Spells
3/5 - Creatures
1/2 - Other Permanents
It has to be text. A nice description, a theme...
-
Try to deck out the fastest using only any pillar thats not time, reverse times and only 1 eternity and deja vu.
Edit: nvm its a stupid idea :P.
-
take a song, and turn it into a deck
-
Make a 30 card deck based off of a False God. Judged on how similar it is to the FG and how effectively it can farm AI3/AI5
-
Design an Elements Poster.
If Elements had a poster on the streets, what would it look like? Would you show off powerful Dragons or the simple Cockatrice? It's up to you!

Not exactly. You don't actually HAVE to draw anything, and instead use the creatures from in-game as graphics. This is just an idea, of course. :)

design elements tshirt/apparel

I've noticed that some elements have lots of creature abilities and some fave very few.(Refering to the abilities that cost that elements quanta. Like Freeze cost :water :water :water)
So here is my idea for several competitions. Like the "New Passive Skill Competition" this one is to design a skill. Tho not a passive skill. Starting with Aether and working to Water design a new skill that to you defines the very essence of that element. After you have made your new skill/ability then make a card with it and give the reason why you think it best fits what that skill is and does.
Current skills/creature abilities are not to be use or redone. Current Elemental classfication should not be concidered when making the skill or creature card.(I.E. Gravity creatures are all massive and hard to stop.)
Instead think about how fine gravity manipulation could do different thing for gravity. Such as with useing gravity force finely controled you could strip the armor off a creature or it's limbs or even stop it from moving all together. This is just an example. But think outside what the current element defines and look to what it could be if you branch out from it's core in a slightly different direction.
-
worst card idea competition. "worst" can be taken in many directions, creativity ftw.
-
There should be an arcade competition:
First a vote for all members where they can choose their favorite arcade games.
Then after all voting the 5 most popular games are chosen, and people have 1 week to score as high as they can (scores have to be registered in highscores to count). Person with the highest point total wins the competition! (Point totals can be adjusted on a 1-100 point scale for each game so each game is weighted equally).
-
"Failure of Spins"
Post screenshots of epic failures on the spin (may be oracle or win spin(the spin you get after winning))
Epic fail meaning something along the lines of getting a spin of 3 different rares or the 3 shards in one spin.
-

1) Design a FG. (An old competition, but it still works.)
2) Design a new element. (Cards have not to be given arts.)
-
This+Fractal=OP
Design a card that is otherwise well balanced, but is as OP as possible when fractal is considered.
In other words, a card that is only OP because Fractal exists.
People will vote on the card that they think is the most OP with fractal, then vote on which one is the most balanced otherwise.
-

I would like a card idea competition that uses myth and folklore from all over the world. I think people in different parts of the world would have an advantage if they did something from there own country.
-
What about a card image's editing competition? Like jmdt's avatar. The coolest, funniest, etc one wins 8)

I lol'd :P
Always happens when designing a card...

"design a competition competition"
-
Assign a culture to all the elements.
(except Time which is already very explicitly Ancient Egypt)
-
A spin is a story
Turn any of these spin sets (there will be 5-10) into a story
Example http://imageplay.net/view/m7Gbd98760/Picture_13
"As he held the orb in his hand, his friend smiled, 'What... what is it? Its glowing!' As he held back tears, he replied 'Its what we have been searching for. The answer to all our questions.' As the begin to walk out something explodes behind them, as they fly forward he turns to see a rainbow of colors and fire. As he hits the castle wall, he fades into darkness. His friend stands up, picks up the orb, and walks away."

card suggesttion, what about a high cost card that have a great to turn a table in game, look like chimera or something like that, but not a dragon that don't have only power.
and another one....
i'm don't see something like this in kuroaitou list. then i'm don't sure should i suggest that.
what about competition that find a new way to win in another competition.
i'm mean it's first time that i'm come to look at competion topic and i'm see it have a bit problem with 'is that popular vote really good with this competition' (at least 3 card competition have it)
then, why don't we find some new way from it?
-
Who has the longest Badluck streak in the Oracle?
Every participant would have to take a screenshot every day (with date visible) and the one who won least within 7 days wins.
Of course, every participant would have to be online each day for a week, which shouldn't be too hard though.
If someone actually wins 2 nymphs or more during that time, s/he gets a "Leprechaun" badge.
-
lol leprechaun,
Bake-Off!- design a new award. (I'm guessing SG would end up deciding the rest :P)
-

Not sure if it's been suggested, so if so, ignore me, but how about an Elements arts-and-crafts competition? People will create something about elements, be it a symbol, one of the creatures, maybe their own deck of actual cards, etc, in real life and submit pictures of their projects. I think that would be a pretty fun idea.
-
So how do you start the Ideas that you get?
I thought I could make one that you take a screen shot in trainer of an awesome thing, kind of the Bigger is better contest but just for trainer instead of just the regular game. (I lost the game)
And do you have to give prizes? If so what? and were do you get it?
-
And do you have to give prizes? If so what? and were do you get it?
Award Icons is the usual award (the little pictures under your account of your information, below the avatar).
However, if it deals with a forum event, like the Underworld Icon competition, then we use the winning entry in the respective area of the forum.
-
I would like to challenge the community to use my 3 completed sets from Icons Gone Wild. Pick an element then make a card for each image of that element. Here are the images by element.

EmeraldTiger, mind putting that in a spoiler tab?
Or posting a link? Because as it is right now, it seems as if you are trying to advetise your artwork.
Personally, I think we need another short story.
My idea is a conversation between the elements, maybe represented by their nymphs. It would allow us to give 'personalities' to all the elements, which I would find quite fun. Maybe tie it in to the war and generals, depending on how dedicated you are.
(Added bonus: If some of the stories are good, they could be added to the wiki. However, the judges for this should be separate from the voters who choose the winner, to eliminate the popularity vote and add some quality regulation)
-
Okay so before reading any further, plz know these things:
-this idea was inspired by Thatnewguy
-submissions do not have to be cards
Okay here we go: Create your opposite!
Take your favorite element and create yourself in the image of the opposite element!
The opposite of death is life, light is dark etc...
You can make a pair of cards, or create a story.
simple enough!
-
Well, i always looking up at forum, and i think we need to make a different competition..
How about Elements Wall Magazine? It sure a little bit fun.

That sounds pretty cool, actually. I can imagine some headlines now: "Two rainbow decks fight each other, what does it mean?" "Rustler gives secrets on how to appear so bright."

This is the example of the wall magazine i mean
http://sman10malang.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/mading1-300x225.jpg
Headline will set by Zanz / SG, but still about elements(example = war, WoW, etc)
The articles can be a deck, question, cards idea, or even an interview.
Background, Wall magazine shape is FREE. Make sure you put your name on the wall magazine(in the center, left, right, etc but not on top because it's for title of wall magazine)
The wall magazine must be made with computer(it will waste money if you make it on real life)
Sorry if this explanation is complicated.
-
i'd rather see magazine cover like the times but with elementsthegame related stories/news/issues
that would be an awesome competition

That is actually what I interpreted from the other suggestion earlier. I don't think anybody imagined a different kind of magazine. :)

except for the one who actually propose it
i understand wall magazine more after googling it (example given looks ugly imo) and i think its too much for a simple competition
magazine cover on the other hand is just about right

Card design competion based on the newton's laws of motion
1. First law: Every body remains in a state of rest or uniform motion (constant velocity) unless it is acted upon by an external unbalanced force. [2][3][4] This means that in the absence of a non-zero net force, the center of mass of a body either remains at rest, or moves at a constant speed in a straight line.
2. Second law: A body of mass m subject to a force F undergoes an acceleration a that has the same direction as the force and a magnitude that is directly proportional to the force and inversely proportional to the mass, i.e., F = ma. Alternatively, the total force applied on a body is equal to the time derivative of linear momentum of the body.
3. Third law: The mutual forces of action and reaction between two bodies are equal, opposite and collinear. This means that whenever a first body exerts a force F on a second body, the second body exerts a force −F on the first body. F and −F are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction. This law is sometimes referred to as the action-reaction law, with F called the "action" and −F the "reaction". The action and the reaction are simultaneous.

:gravity would like this :D
Also, tl;dr version:
1. Everything will move at the same rate until some outside force changes it. (not moving is a constant rate too, 0)
2. Force, mass, and acceleration are related. YOu change one, you change the other 2
3. Any time you apply a force, there is a force which acts on you in the opposite direction. (You punch a wall, wall exerts equal force on you, that's why your hand hurts)
-
Maybe something like this:
1. Every person sends in the (unchangeable) deck that they will use throughout the event to an organizer.
2. The organizers rate the decks from ai1-ai5. (Upped cards allowed, but if upped cards are used, the minimum ranking for your deck will be ai4)
3. The event begins. Throughout the event, people can play each other as many times as they want. Every victory earns the player the ranking of their opponent's deck in points. Example: I defeat a person whose deck was ranked ai4. I get 4 points. Every loss results in you losing the points for your deck. For example: I lose using a deck ranked ai1. I lose 1 point. (Every player's deck ranking would be posted publicly)
4. The event ends. The person with the most points wins.
I haven't looked at any other suggestions in this topic to see if they are similar, but if they are... ignore this post.
Ignore me. I posted in the wrong section. Sorry.

Vrt would likely be asked to host this again if it were to happen. Perhaps it will make a glorious return one day to blow the minds of the unprepared. Competition Organizers do realize this is a popular competition, so we will do the best we can to make sure this happens again. However, we are rather swamped down with another series of competitions, which you will see soon, but we do enjoy the thought of another chat competition.

make-a-meme competition :D
Please explain.
sorry for late reply.
Each person will be allowed 1 meme (http://memegenerator.net/) entry, and the community will vote on the one they like the most. Be it the funniest, the coolest, or just the most epic.
Inspired by Kamietsu's "Can Haz Meme?" thread. :D
-
competition to advertise a product with some element in it. and be creative! think about something that DOESNT exist yet. it will help if you will add a picture...
-
The most fail picture...?
-
Competition to create a set of 10 cards for a new element. a few must have synergies with each other or other cards.
edit: sorry if the idea was already suggested.
-
Team Card Idea Creation
Assemble a team they give themselves a unique team name.
All members of a team must provide input to their thread.
The number of team members and number of ideas is up to the organizers.
Any additional details I will also leave up to the organizers.
-
having read on the general discussion how people feel about the lack of new rare cards I've come of the opinion that someone should make a rare card designer competition. it would be great as there are only a few rare's and not every element has one. the lack of rare's may have put some of particular elements at a disadvantage in the weekly tournaments and WoE. plus it would be a huge relief for those who have completed elements and collected everything available and are now bored with the game.
-
Documented win with worst deck.
You need to prove that you beat either an AI3, AI5, or FG (up to whomever organizes it), and we will vote on who had the worst deck.

more card idea competitions.
-
These are all card idea competion suggestions.
Advent of Technology
Your cards must be mechnically or electrically themed.
Fourth Wall Breaker
Card has to be able to be implemented in the game, but must break the fourth wall.
New Concept
You must make 3 cards. These three cards must have a unique and potentially radical concept.
Pseudocreation (yes I know the idea of new element cards has been suggested before, I'm just refining it.)
You must create a unique Dragon, Nymph, and Pendulum that would feel like they were in an actual new element but are Other cards.
Card Revival- The Second Movement
Generic card revival competition, with a catch - you must rework a card from the oldest 5 pages of the smithy.
Tip of the Hat
Create a card based on a veteran you think is the awesomest. The card has to feel like a normal card (aka no usernames or icon art that doesn't fit elements), but has to reference the veteran in some way.
Badass
Ask all the veterans of the forum about how would they depict themselves as badass. You then must select one of the suggestions and attempt to create a succesful card around that suggestion.
The Poem of Gl1tches
Gl1tch writes a poem. You must make a card idea based around it.
vrtangelo
vrt draws a picture. You must make a card idea based around it.
Clock Up
You must make a card based around 1 of the following -
1) Stopping Time
2) Time travel
3) Memory manipulation.
People's Request
CCC has collected a list of top 10 suggestions for cards wanted by members. We have 7 unused suggestions, and you must make a card based around one of them.
Caveat Emptor (Latin for buyer beware)
The card made must have some kind of potential drawback on your quanta.

I'm in.
November
by ~0Gl1tch0
Every year the seasons turn
And all the young oak trees do learn
About how their leave's color's return
Makes them look like their tops burn
But as their leaves begin to brown
Their smiles turn into a a big frown
Although they love their colored crown
The wind blows and their leaves...
fall....
down.
As november comes on high
The evergreen trees do sigh
They watch all the oak trees lie
About how their leaves never die
They lie in wait as the month flows
They giggle in secret, each one knows
That every November, when the wind blows
The leaves will leave their pretty foes.
And so, each winter, we oak trees weep
The evergreen's insults hit us, deep
And as the days slowly creep
We oak trees cry ourselves to sleep
And in the winter, no one sees
We oak trees, sad, without our leaves
To add to their bullied glee
Evergreens are made Christmas trees
All winter they have their fling
They prance and laugh and tease and sing
We oak trees may be lacking "bling",
But old oaks know what comes in spring
As the younger oaks awake
They look in puddle; they fear heart break
Relief comes from all the ache
When they see the blossoms their branches make
And so every single year
November brings a dreadful tear
But those evergreens had better fear
Because ever slowly, spring draws near.

While I love your brainstorming list, which is basically what this thread is for, we cannot do competitions like this most of the time. Some people on the forum actually become jealous of other users having more attention then they do. While that sounds ridiculous, it does happen, and we don't want some people to have their ego crash down like that.
-
With the War III promo video competition, I was thinking that we could do the same for WoE. ofc it'd be sometime closer to the actual release, but just throwing the idea out there.

Somebody, I cannot remember who for the life of me, suggested this in chat, and I believe it's too good of a concept not to mention somewhere.
Card creation competition - Mythology
Gorgons, Titans, and Medusa alike could all have the chance to be made into an Elements card!

I think SG has mentioned re-installing a forum Referral Modification and re-running the Recruit a Friend Competition (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,2333.0.html). It's been a year and obviously benefits the community in a big way.
As far as I know SG has nothing on her plate at the moment ^-^ so finding the time should be a piece of cake.
-
Fastest win against (AI opponent here)? Like a "Submit a Video" thing?
you wouldn't have to take a video, because you can take a screenshot of time and turns it took.
-
I do apologize if this has been suggested before, but here's what is hopefully -my- idea:
A Card Redesign Competition. Contestants will be given a pool or cards to choose from. This pool could be all the cards in the game, or a select few cards in the game, or a number of cards designed on this forum. Preferably, the pool would consist of cards with abilities.
The goal will be to rewrite what the card does. The catch will be that contestants must do it in a poetic manner. Simple as that, but oh the possibilities! Creature ability is fair game, of course. Damage and HP are too, but significantly harder to get creative with. You can also describe what playing the card does to your quanta pool, or even give an exaggerated description of how most players would react upon seeing it in PvP. Of course, describing how it interacts with other cards (Mr. Discord, meet Mr. Sanctuary!) is yet another route.
It's a bit of a crude mashup between Card Design and Writing, although it's really neither, but I think it could be fun to do.
-
Short Story War!
Each of the wide span of players is split into 12 teams; 1 for each element. Each member of each team writes a short story, then each team votes for who's story they want to represent their Element. Stories MUST have a Creature or relative of your team's element as the main character. No voting for yourself! Then, the community votes for who's story out of the 12 remaining stories wins.

Forum Easter Egg Hunt or Scavenger Hunt.

Forum Easter Egg Hunt or Scavenger Hunt.
That could be fun. I'd opt for Scavenger Hunt since Easter Egg thing is a bit of a smaller audience. I might have to bring this one up to SG and see if we can pull something together.

I tried to do something like that once, but it's a bit difficult because of the search ability. It would probably require using images, each with a unique url.

How about a easter bunny hunt ingame?
Like every AI has a few additional Easter Egg (creature) cards. When played, these eggs do nothing (0|1) but when won in a spin you get a nice reward. (either it sells for ~1500 electrum, is a relic, turns into a malig cell =), or whatever)

While that would be nice, we can't really do anything like that... at all. That's all on Zanz's part.

Well then, a few things you could do as an easter event are these:
- A quiz.
A few stacks of questions and whoever answers every quistion in a stack correctly joins the tombola of that stack.
Higher difficulty leads to bigger rewards.
- something like "Essence's '7 Gods' Game".
The organizer will post a few FG's and a quest for each one (like beat this FG with EM). Players will have to beat as many as possible with the same deck (in the trainer).
Beating a FG gives 1 point, doing it with the quest gives 2 points.
Whoever gets most points wins.
- forum hunt
the organizer (preferably SG here) edits a couple of random post throughout the forum, adding something random at the bottom like: Bunny was here: %&975(.
or: Colory eggs lie around: 786ç&)5
shouldn't be too easy to find with the searching function.
the 10 folks with most codes, get a reward.
- get a highscore in the arcade (...meh)
- A combination of the above.
- additional rules: whoever distibutes answers gets a nice 1 day forum ban and is disqualified. Answers have to be sent by PM to the organizer.
how does that sound?

Best elemental background: your in-game avatar
you describe what you look like in-game, what is your character's motivation, his background, everything that make him...you!
-
So we've had competitions where one designs a card around their forum name. How about one where you design a deck around it? People that don't take place could offer their name for someone else to use, so someone like Numbers could participate.
-
Mind's vault of horrors:
description: this competition is based around what can go through mortals and elemental's mind when dueling against each other.
theme: the cards must be based around emotions, feelings, mental states and illnesses of the mind.

Competition Type: Card Idea
Competition Name: Creatures and Places that have not been made before.
I will extend my current project here and put it on hold before I go too far with it.
Hyroen Inspired.
I was working on Creatures that have not been done before.
Hyroen was also looking at places that are common in card design.
We also need to expand on this.
This is what Hyroen has come up with so far.

Thanks for the mention EmT. ^_^
But on a tangent, I have another idea for an interesting competition.
Challenge of the Sandstorm
While all other opposing-element synergies have been found, a strong :air Air - Earth :earth synergy has yet to be found or created.
Make a unique, creative and innovative card, either a spell, permanent or creature that best unifies these two elements and could create a strong :air :earth Duo-deck keeping in mind the card set these elements have.
-
Origin of Chat Art competition
Competition for artists. Each artist will be given different requirements from Chat
Competition maker goes to the chat and asks players what the artist should draw and how. He/She asks : What artist should draw
How it should look
Where the Spell/creature/permanent should be situated
Which element should the art symbolize
Something else
Example He/She should draw squireel
It should look shiny
It should be somewhere in wasteland
It should symbolize life
Squirrel should hold staff with flower on its top
If requirements are ridiculous Competition Maker may remove them and ask again (The squirrel should be making a coffee)
If requiremets are incompatible (It should be bird, it should be under ground) Competition maker may swap requirements between players.
5 days joining phase
1-4 hours requirements hunting
10 days creating picture
7 days voting

Baptize the Elders! Competition
Based on the discussion of giving Ai3 a bit more variety. False Gods have their own personalities, even the countless Half-Bloods can be called by their name; but our best known opponents are still left in impersonality..
Description: Participants have to give names to all the (13) current elders (their decks can be found here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,17934.0.html)). Names can be based on myths, heroes, demigods, (once) real-live persons, whatever you'd like; just stay in theme with the other named opponents.

Competition Type: Themed Deck Creation
Competition Name: Challenge of the Seven Deadly Sins
Challenge of the Seven Deadly Sins

How to win; simple, gain the most point across your 3 decks.
Points are given from a scale from 1/10 on each of the criterias.
First impression:
Originality/creativity:
Suiting the sins:
Bonus points are given out if it meets criteriaz like these;

Today, on chat, I saw this..
[20:33:06] ddevans96z: mkay, if Osiris and Ferox could have a kid, and that kid had a pendulum fetish, it would be this dumbass ai3.
And this gave me the idea for a..
False God kiddos competition!
Design an Elder (Level 3) opponent by mixing the theme of any two false gods (genders ignored). Decks should clearly resemble their "parents", and should be fitting in difficulty for a Level 3.
Rules:
- Include code
- Can use all the cards currently in the trainer
- It is not mandatory to use the new cards
- AI3 have to be fun to play against
- AI3 have to be challenging and have a well developed strategy that the AI can use
- Add lots of variety to the deck (no 6 of this, 6 of that, 12 pillars)
- Max 3 rare cards per deck (at least 1 rare per deck would be best)
- Can be mono, duo, trio rainbow and anything in between
- Can not choose mark. The mark is automatically set to be the mark of the most used element in the deck
-
Design a "Reigned by Fire" banner to replace the :entropy one. :3

Redesign art of any card.

For the first idea, vrt has done quite a few of those already.
For the second idea, vrt and pepokish (resident artists in the community who brought you card art for Phoenix, Crusader, Leaf Dragon, Water Pillar, and many more) have a whole bunch of new card art in the works.
-
Ah yes, I love vrt and pepokish's art.
Very well, I'm out of ideas, so keeping it simple:
Change the Elements community.
It would need a large timeframe, but could be very interesting, and be highly beneficial for the community.

I see what u are saying, but isn't that like Half-Bloods? It helps u lead up to the False Gods. For every False God there is a Half-Blood. Which is a, not so good but still challenging, deck for people that are strong, but not strong enough to face False Gods yet.
CO Comment :
Merged your double post. Please modify your posts in the future! Also, please try to post Tournament and Competition Ideas in the proper section, thanks!
-
What about a false god farmer competiton? Design your own FG farming deck.
Rules:
Quantum pillar and nova are banned (upgraded forms too). This rule might be unnecessary, I don't know.
Can't have 50% of cards the same as an already existing deck. Pillars and pendulums don't count.
Winner is the one with the highest FGei after ??? games. Maybe a deck building phase and a testing phase-deck builder gets the reward icon, testers get the electrum.
It's just an idea, but the thread says to post ideas here :P

Card Ideas in Action
Original Idea by Xenoocidius
Objective
Create a video of a card idea proposal in action.
Rules and Requirements:
1. Choose one of the card ideas located here (any level):
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/board,6 (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/board,6)
2. Create a video of the card being used in an Elements battle (it will obviously need to be edited).
3. If the card is a spell, an appropriate sound effect should be used and the effect should be demonstrated.
4. If the card is a creature, it should be shown attacking and its ability should be demonstrated.
5. If the card is a permanent, it should be shown attacking (sword), generating (pillar-like) or defending (shield), and its ability should be demonstrated.
6. Video should be 5-30 seconds in length.
7. One submission per person but you are free to change your submission as much as you want until the submission period is over.
8. All submissions must use the following style:
***Card Name | Upgraded Card Name***

How about another joke card competition? The last one was hilarious.
Rules:
You don't have to submit upgraded and unupgraded versions of the card. You are welcome to have both versions if it is part of the joke, but you don't need to.
You can submit up to three ideas. All ideas will have to be nominated by another user before it can be part of the final vote.
Cards do not need to actually make sense were it to be an in-game card. It's just for the lols. You can make a bacon element if you want to.
I am 99% sure that, because these cards are completely not intended to become part of the game, they do not need to be public domain. It would be in good conscience to put a link to where it was from, though.
-
Competition Name: The New Slot
Competition Objective: A competitor will design a slot which is to include appearance and function.
Competitors will design 3 cards to demonstrate the slot's mechanics.
The concepts for a new slot may be limited. It may be necessary to allow several uses of one concept as long as function is different.
I will leave additional details up to organizers.
-
Competition Name: Piggyback
Rules: Competitors will create a card (upgraded and unupped) to be a part of a pre-existing deck on the Forums. They are required to post the following:
Their card
A link to the old deck
The new deck (use "? ? ?" for the card that they made)
How this card can improve the deck
-
Competition Name: You've Probably Never Seen It
Competition Objective: Design a creature card that has good synergy with Cloak

Syzygy
A curious arrangement in the heavens- a period of balance has arrived.
Type: Deckbuilding
Competition Objective: Build an efficient quartet of one of the following:
[:time :gravity :aether :entropy] [:life :death :darkness :light] [:air :water :earth :fire]
All decks must:
- use all 4 elements indicated in their set.
- have a balance of elements- no element should make up less than 1/5 of the deck's total card composition.
- have a balance of non pillar/pendulum permanents, spells, and creatures- no card type should be less than 1/4 of the deck
- not use off element cards, including :underworld cards.
I'm not quite sure on the other details, or if there are enough combos/synergies for this to work, but it could make some interesting decks.

Card Competition: New Element Theme
Objective:
Design three new cards for a specific element that are a part of a new theme.
Time has ancient Egypt, clockwork. Air has flight and flying. Come up with a new theme that fits into a specific element and create three cards that fit into that theme.

Problem with competitions like that one is that they require skills. It's not that bad with images, but only a small percentage of users know how to make videos, and even smaller percentage bothers to spend the time to make one. As anyone who has ever produced videos knows, it takes a lot of time to produce even a 1 minute quality video.
The best way to do art design competitions is to give users free easy-to-use tools. For example we could given them a link to Flame Painter (http://www.escapemotions.com/experiments/flame/) and have everyone use that. This way you don't really need any previous editing experience or software. Anyone can just click the link and start making the image.
Internet is full of all kinds of tools that produce images, video, audio etc. We should try to use those as much as possible so more people can join the competitions.
-
That's basically what I said; the video competition wouldn't get much participation. I know how long it takes to produce a video.
For an image-editing competition like what I just suggested I assume they could use something like Pixlr (http://pixlr.com/editor/), which I've heard good things about, or naturally their own image-editing software.

Given that my above video competition idea wouldn't get much participation, here's the same thing but as an image editing competition:
- Pick a card idea from the Card Ideas and Art board
- Edit a screenshot to show that card in action
- Use multiple screenshots if required (for spells or creature abilities, for example
I'd suggest chat paint. It's sufficient, limited enough so that skills count as a minor thing.

How about a Design a Competition Competition? Winning Competition becomes an actual Competition.

How about a Design a Competition Competition? Winning Competition becomes an actual Competition.
We actually had that one a long time ago. It would be nice to bring it back, though.

the new painting thing in the new chat can be made into a version of the MS paint competition and the quiz league combined
a mod posts a topic to draw every 5 min or so, and have some bi-standers as voters to determine whose is the best?

Design a Quest System competition.
Complex, simple, whatever, just make sure it's a good addition to the game. Provide proxies and visuals for bonus effects!

Find/take pictures of creatures that look as close as possible to Elements creatures. The person with the most that look really close wins.
I quite like the create an element idea from before too.

Seeing as this isn't a PvP idea, I think this is the best place to post it. Deck-building School!
One deck-building challenge every week that forces deck-builders to think out-side the box.
Deck-building school!
Put your deck-building skill to the test!
:entropybig :firebig :gravitybig :timebig :lifebig :aetherbig :airbig :waterbig
:deathbig :earthbig :darknessbig
Players compete to gain prizes for building original, well balanced and effective decks. The player who cultimates the most points wins.
1. HOW TO SIGN UP?
Anyone with a forum account can sign up for this event.
You may sign up whenever you like by posting a deck for this weeks challenge. There is no requirement to post a certain amount of decks and nobody will be removed from this event or get any parisites from it because it is a peaceful competition and the only expectation of anyone who decides to take part is to learn something, have some fun and improve their deck-building skill.
2. GETTING READY
Every week every user may post one legal deck within that weeks deck-building rules which he/she may change at any point during the week. Take your time making you deck, but don't feel you need to take forever and don't feel that you can't ask around in chat for a little help.
3. Scoring
Every week there will be a deck-building challenge for everyone to complete. There are three catagories you can win: Original, Balanced and Effective. Winning any of these catagories will score you 5 points. 2nd and 3rd place in all catagories will get 3 and 1 points respectively. All judging will be done by someone responsible (Or me if I can't find anyone who wants to help judge)
4. Deck-building Hints and Tips
Deck-building isn't easy as it looks: Once you have an idea, you have to make it as fast, balanced and versitile as you can.
You can find 9 general decks tips here, (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,3329.0.html)
A brilliant QI calculator here, (http://elements.alanbeam.net/qi.php?)
And lots of clever people here. (http://elementscommunity.org/chat/blab.php)
6. WINNER
The player with the most points after 2 months wins, but everyone wins really as long as they come out of it a little bit better.
7. REWARDS
The winner of the event will receive the following forum award icon: :))

I would like for as many people as possible to learn how to do card idea play testing.
We could then see it used for Competitions, Trials and Events.
I would like to suggest a competition or add to next Card Idea War,
where:
a player designs a card
Gets points for vote
Gets Points for winning most play test if determined balanced
I will leave additional details to organizers.

Playtesting currently takes a bit more time than a regular PvP match, to say the least. If we were to make a competition around this it would either require a tool or program that shortened the manual work done to be feasible.
CDW seems to be an unsuitable target for this given that additional features seem to take away from the simplicity the community prefers. If cards are required to be balanced through playtests imbalanced cards could potentially be forced to undergo multiple playtests that require a lot of commitment from the user.
IMHO, it would better to keep this system on the fun side of things at the moment rather than force it into a competitive environment that doesn't need it.

I just started playing Elements this week but I've been playing MTG forever and I would LOVE to do a draft or booster draft. So somebody should run another one of those!
-
I´d like to see the following competition:
Take a pencil (maybe coloured) and a sheet of paper, and draw a picture of the face of a nymph. We can never see the face of our nymphs.
The face drawn can fit to the nymph we have in Elements, but needn´t.
Could also be computer-based, as an alternative.

i'm new and learning how to navage these forums, haw about a card designing competion, and is their a suggest updates thead?

A Trans-Elemnts Series. Card Idea Series, that is. Basically taking a single theme applied across all the elements and each application to the Elements will be voted upon accordingly. But in order to allow for multiple participants, two things could be done.
1. Teams - Participants would be randomly put into teams and assigned an Element or seven. At later points, teams can request that a member be switched out for an older participant that has been kicked out of the teams either due to inactivity or lack of team cohesion.
2. Individual - Straightforward. Each participant makes their own series either of their own choice, of from what the coordinator provides. The first could work since, even if two competitors use the same idea, their take on the theme per element can differ greatly.
There are a lot of things that would need to be fleshed out, but this is merely an idea.

A Half-blood rush competition. The fastest-winning deck to make a profit from half-bloods wins.

A Half-blood rush competition. The fastest-winning deck to make a profit from half-bloods wins.
Already been done. here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,34573.0.html). It was unofficial and wanted creative ideas though. With the nerf to H-Bs, this might actually be worth something. My bet is on debauchery though.

Name: Old Art Repurposed
Challenge: Take old card art that is no longer being used (is there a full list of these somewhere?) and create a new card that use that art, unmodified.
-
Make a deck that best represents an internet meme.
-
Not sure if this was suggested, I only made a quick glance.
A competition to design a new rare card.
This was done but it was limited to Other and got relatively few submissions.
It's a difficult concept to design for and really lets those who are great designers shine.
My other suggestion was posted by a guest a page or so back, a draft style competition, ex:
A 4 player tournament style match in which a pool of random cards is generated and each player picks 1 card before passing the pool to the next player and they pick a card, this continues until all fo the cards have been picked.
Optionally after the pool is diminished each player can choose a representative element in which theyll get a small set of random cards from that element as a boost.
It's a good test of how well a person can make do with adverse situations and lets those with good planning skills stand out.
After the cards are distributed each player builds their own deck from that set and then a single elmination tournament occurs.

Project Lore -
Create a story based on your favorite elements card. E.g. describe its origin discovery etc. in the world of elements.
This could be a story about its very first use, its creation, an pseudo log entry of its re-discovery by someone / thing after being lost... etc.
This came from Round 1 of the forum brawl competition. I thought it would be a good competition on its own.

+1. That idea would really add to the depth of the game.

Like the Deckbuilding task for Brawl#1 Round 2, build CIA decks. Then vote on favorites/best. Whether it's an official or unofficial competition doesn't matter. It's fun!

FG Competition: Conflict
Make an FG that has a major personal conflict with all (or maybe just some) of the other FGs.
FG / CaC Competition: New Beginnings
Create 2 cards, then create an FG centered around your 2 cards + 1 existing card.

The card game simulator made by Xenocidus presents a very cool and amusing alternative to pure RNG based games.
For instance - The Game of Risk
The standard game of risk rules apply ( Wikipedia-Game of Risk Rules (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Risk_(game)#Standard) ), with players submitting their actions to the CO via PM... with 1 main exception:
instead of using 6 sided dice for attacking and defending, the Xenocidus' Game Simulator (http://elementscommunity.org/tools/xenocidius/simulator/) is used instead.
Here's how:
-Each round, players submit a standard deck code to the CO along with their desired actions for the round.
---This code will be used for all attack and defense purposes for that player during the given round.
-Any time a pair of 6 sided dice would need to be roled, The CO instead performs a 60 run simulation on the simulator using the deck codes submitted by the combatants. (60 is arbitrary here. Any even number will work but should be over 30 for statistical purposes)
-The player with the most victories in the simulator wins. Ties go to the defender as usual.
This should add a new and fun twist to a classic board game. Not only must players use strategy in the "risk" style of game itself, but their deck building and predictive skills are tested in each battle.
May the best Elemental General win!

Few things:
1. This is less like a competition and feels more like a PvP event, just asynchronous.
2. The sim isn't perfect and has some bugs.
3. The AI doesn't know how to use some decks, and will fail
4. This feels a bit too similar RPS

All are fair points, especially when the CO is acting more like a PvPO and 'simulating' PvP in a sort - at the same time however, it's not really a true PvP event since no actual Elements PvP (text-based or using the actual game) is involved (said play mode is 'AI vs AI', in a sense.)
Ultimately I think the biggest issues with this idea are 3 and 4, respectively - the AI stupidity in Xeno's Simulator (which is a few steps below the actual ETG AI) tends to lend a heavily bias towards very straightfoward rushes, which accentuates the RPS attitude since players are forced to simplify decks.
At the moment, I'm not sure if it's viable to host as either a Competition or a PvPE, but it is certainly viable as an unofficial event.

1) ... Yes, its a bit of a hybrid here so I honestly didn't know where the topic would fit best. I posted this up in PvP suggestion section as well...
2,3) True... but it does at least encourage some element of deck-building prowess rather than simply using raw luck. Alas, well programmed AI's / simulators take a lot of time and effort to produce. Just gotta make do with whats available... All things considered, though, I think Xeno' did quite an awesome job. Its simple, easy to use, and even allows for pitting non-player type AI's against one another... which could also add to the fun if it were worked in somehow.
4) Again this is a slightly oddballish idea and I wasn't sure if this fits better here or in the PvP section so I put it up in both...

I had an idea that since the main look of a website is controlled by the css (layout, spacing, etc.) there could be a competition of sorts to re-design the main forums's css.
Limitations:
-Nothing here for the moment. Maybe not flashing lights though
It could be just for fun if some people wanted to try it. Any suggestions or opinions are more than welcome!
EDIT: Community polls would be used to decide each round if we were to use a tournament tree type thing as opposed to elimination.

Achieve a 1 turn victory without cheating with the quanta in the trainer and provide sreenshots(better more than one or two), if possible record it. From whatifidogetcaught words: "May the best man reach it first!"

Hm, so a speed based competition? (Admittedly that is somewhat luck based and there are threads that show how to do it, but the format is worth considering.)

I just thought of this, and I don't know if it has been suggested before.
A card idea competition where:
The CO's come up with a list of words or phrases
These words or phrases will be randomly assigned
Each participant will be PM'ed their assignment
Each participant will then design a card without putting their given word/phrase on the card
The community will then guess the word/phrase in each of the participant's thread
The each correct answer will give the participant points
The number of rounds will be up to the CO's

The Competition Organizers Card Design Battle!
Rules:- Each participant designs 1 unupgraded card image (no table/notes) based on 1 Competition Organizer (participant's choice). Post the card images on this thread<insert link here>.
- There are a few outrageous limitations (these are my suggestions):
- The element must be Fire, Light, Time, or Other.
- The card text can only fill up to three (out of four) lines. (You are not allowed Notes for extraneous mechanic explanation.)
- The card must be a creature.
- The card art must be the Competition Organizer's profile picture.
- Participants must also align themselves with a Competition Organizer (which can be the same one they are designing a card for). Alignments offer the following bonuses (these are my suggestions; I think the Competition Organizer himself should formulate his team's bonus) that void certain limitations:
- Kamietsu: You can choose any forum-approved card art (but you must provide the source with your submission).
- Kuroaitou: You can design a spell or permanent.
- mesaprotector: You can use all four lines of the card text.
- Zblader: You can design a card of any element.
- After all the submissions are received, the winner will be decided through three rounds of community voting:
- Best Competition Organizer Submissions: The submissions will be separated into four groups; one for each competition organizer. The community will vote for the best card that represents each competition organizer.
- Best Team Submissions: The submissions will be separated into four groups; one for each competition organizer's team. The community will vote for the best card from each team.
- Final Round: There will be up to 8 winners--the four from the first round, and the four from the second round. The community will vote among these 8 for the final winner.
The best thing is that this is totally clone-able for any type of forum position, be it Global Moderators, Masters, or Top Ten Posters. ^-^

This seems possible to host. I think the twelve elemental masters would be the best subject for this competition.
I can't help but feel it may be time for the next CDW? At least after War, that is.
No need to rush them.
Card Design Wars tend to require a lot more planning than the average Competition; as Kuro (CDW's usual host) has retired from CO duty and mesa is leading Team Light in War this competition might not happen any time soon.

ART ATTACK!
A 2 part Card Design competition, Card Artists will first submit pieces of art, 512x512 pixels portraying possible new cards for Elements the Game. A maximum of 2 pieces per Artist, and art must all be original and appropriate pieces.
The pieces of art are then voted on based on the most aesthetic appeal and best technique.
Top 5 pieces of art (based on number of votes primarily, and secondly on chronology of submission) are then considered as inspirations for Card Designers with which Designers will design a maximum of 2 ideas per Designer, being able to use each piece of art only once! All designs are then judged on the thematic and elemental appropriateness of mechanics, on balance, and most importantly on innovation.
Card Ideas are then voted on. The winners of the event are both the Card Artist and Designer of the winning idea. They each win a standard size(18x18) trophy icon. If the winning Card Artist is also the winning Card Designer, they win a large size(32x32) trophy icon.
Thoughts? Does it seem too similar to other competitions?
-
Back the very old pre-forum jump days there was a 'Make Art for New ETG Cards' Competition hosted by Scaredgirl, which had a similar idea as the first half of this competition. The second half is essentially Epic 3-Card Design (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,6012.0.html)'s format with more streamlined rules.
As this would be a rehash of two already hosted competitions (and one already has their format set up), this would be definitely hostable. The only thing I am concerned about is if enough artists will participate.
-
Card Design Extraveganza
Similar to epic 3 card design but includes an art and backstory submission phase.
Round 1) Art Phase.
-Competitors submit card art ideas under 3 categories
--Spells
--Permanents
--Creatures
The top 2 winners for each category (6 images total) become the images used in round 2
Round 2) Design Phase
-Competitors submit 1 card for each of the 3 phases using one of the 2 available art images from that phase
The winning card for each category goes on to be the card used in round 3
--Judging should be based on (maybe use a 1-5 scale for each and then add all together):
---1) Thematic connection between mechanic and art
---2) Originality
---3) Balance
---4) Overall impression
Round 3) Backstory and fortune phase
-Competitors choose their favorite winning card from round 2 and submit
--A backstory of 500 lines or fewer
--A card fortune to match the backstory
The top 3 winners are picked and sent to the all around phase
Round 4) All around
The all around grand champion card is selected.

This isn't a new idea, but how about revisiting C-C-C-Combo Maker! (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,29916.0.html), a very fun (at least, I thought it was), two-person card designing event that took place August 11, 2011, which is oddly enough ten days after I joined and the first competition I was in.
Anyways, it's just a thought. It may have been revisited without my knowledge, as I haven't really started paying attention to Competitions until very recently, but yeah.

Here's a stupid idea I got, thought I might as well share it :
IT'S THE CRISIS !
Even False-Gods undergo it, and it's time for them to move forward and change job.
Every competitor is to create the (fictive) resume of a False God.
Voting should take into account, along with standard resume criteria, how well it fits the gods and how funny the result is.
... I think submissions should probably be images or perhaps links to pdf files, as texts might lose formatting otherwise.
-
Card Art Stocking Stuffers
Create new artwork for an Existing ETG card using only Images from a royalty free stock image site or image commons
(e.g. sxc.hu and wikipedia )
Two sub categories:
Scavenger Hunt: Only unmodified art submissions allowed
Touch Up masters: Only modified / photo touchupped art submissions allowed.
ETG Anthem Card Creation
Constents create and submit and ETG card inspired / based upon their top favorite song of all time.
The player should include in the notes:
1) The name of the song they picked
2) How the card is connected to that song
-
-Write lore about one card
-Elite Renamer: come up with a clever name to replace that of "Elite ________"
-

NPC Creation / Deck Conversion Competion
Competitors would take their favorite deck creation or convert an existing deck idea into an NPC that could be implemented for the elements 1.4 bestiary:
http://www.elementsthegame.com/bestiary.html
Submissions would need to include everything required to create the NPC in the bestiary app listed above:
- Name
- Mark & Icon; (icon is picked from the existing unupgraded cards)
- NPC stats: HP (5-900), Mark Multiplier (x1-x5), Draw Multiplier (x1-x3)
- Description / story / lore; (500 characters maximum)
- Deck code & deck image; (be sure to include a link if you use an existing deck idea)

competitions are making a magnificent return with MS paint comp 7 and the new Christmas comp but we would still like your ideas. so post them here! they may turn into real competitions down the line!
-
Folks, give this some use. We're open for ideas any time.
-
I'd like to see another screenshot competition, but I had a slightly different Idea. Saying, "You must have a field full of Crimson Dragons", means that everyone is chasing the same thing, and although people will be creative with their methods, it ultimately comes down to who can do it fastest, which comes down to who will see it and will complete it fastest. So why not say, "Show us a screenshot of an amazing field layout" or something of that ilk, which allows for creativity in completing and also allows a community vote, instead of who can do these the fastest.
-
Design a card meant to combo with a card assigned to you.

In here...
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/competitions/desing-a-competition-voting/
...except for the winning competition (Elements the Film-Competition) where we have to design a movie poster and post it here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/competitions/elements-the-movie/), there is the Paint-With-Element competition which had a similar competition held into the distant past (in here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/competitions/art-competition-icon-art/)) as well as the Ecosystem sybmission. These two competitons ideas can be fun if hosted.
Another suggestion:
Do NOT held just a single competition for a week and next week a new one, and then a new one etc.
Imho, hosting a dozen competitions and keep them ongoing for months is going to have the following advantages:
* Keep the community more interested (there will always be an ongoing competiton).
* Greater variety (if one of the running competitions do not interest a person, the other 2 or 3 currently running competitions will probably catch his/her attention).
* The Competitions section is going to look much more active than it looks right now.
Other than that, keep up your great work, guys! :D

Interesting... The only problem with it is that players, after making their submission, will wait months to see a result. By that time, they may have already left the forums and not be able to know they won...
Especially at this time with the community being fragile atm (no updates/PvP), the increase in people leaving is only going to increase.
It is a very good idea, however, with the current state of the forums, it may not be the most practical right now.
-
Welp, thanks for the thoughts
But that should go into the Feedback (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/competitions/competition-feedback/) thread, not the Ideas thread.
Regardless..

While hosting "a dozen competitions" and "keep them ongoing for months" seems to have these advantages, one of us will have to be monitoring the competition for these months. Since months are quite a long time, our timers will either be pretty long and people might either delay joining or, by joining too early, will forget about the voting, and won't vote. (This is also why we already talk about the voting threads all around, including chat.)
Greater variety does seem legit (Yeah, we're on our third Art Comp), but we're trying to get a good cycle going of having an art comp, a writing comp, a deck comp, a card comp, etc, going through a cycle as to keep people interested.
It'll be more active, but it'll be a bit more of a hassle to maintain. Although that's only if it's a "dozen" comps. I guess we can attempt to run some more simultaneously, but it shouldn't be an absurd number.

Take a poem such as this:
In the calm nights peace,
Wind shifts its breeze.
Crickets sing their tranquil tune,
Cloaked in the moonlit trees.
Grass swaying in harmony,
Tickling the sleeping .
All is quiet in the cloak of night.
And have people design a deck based around it.
Such as it talks about being cloaked and moonlit trees, so maybe a :life / :darkness swarm, using cloaks.
Or for a deck comp same thing in reverse, write a poem around a deck.
-
2 Competition Ideas:
Name That Pokemon!
Rules: pick a famous forum member and create an art about him. This art can either be a drawing, a song or a tale. The drawing cannot contain exact copies of forum avatars or favorite elements of the member, which would obviously relate to them. Also, the song or the tale cannot contain his name, or his forum achievements that would again, too obviously point to that member. However, some of the member's catchphrases and usual feelings can be referred to.
The art which gets the most correct tips on who is the art about, wins. Too obvious arts are disqualified.
Haiku Madness
Write insane haikus. That is all. :P

mindgate necklace, basilisk tea to paralyze them and then go in for the kill, etc.

It's a competition about the guy in the Steal card.
- It can be an art competition: draw how do you think the stealing guy/girl's full body looks, with or without the cloak and hoodie he/she's wearing.
- It can be a writing competition about the story of the stealing guy/girl. Who he/she is? Where did he/she come from? etc.
-
Parody Competition
Take a popular* song and rewrite some/all of the lyrics to make an elements themed parody. (See here for an example (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/humor/op-sofo-style/))
*"Popular" needs a clear definition in this case. I'll leave it t the COs to decide what is and what isn't.
I second this
Same, this one would be really fun.

Archaeology

>:( >:( >:(The Elements Forum Bar Fight >:( >:( >:(
The idea would be to have a monthly competition based in The Elementalist, The less-than-friendly Elements Community Pub! The challenge for each month's competition will differ depending on the month, as will be explained later, but the prizes will remain the same:
"Landlord" Forum Award and Nymph/Mark + Electrum for winner
"Bought a Pint" Award and Electrum for runner up.
"Bought a Pint" Award for EVERY other competitor (Will be explained later).
Ideally as this moves on, people will rack up "Pints" So the award would show a number over the amount of pints that a member has racked up.
So, why does EVERYONE get an award?
After talking about the forum funding crisis in chat, it occurred to me that $5 a month from 16 people would fund us indefinitely. $5 is about the cost of a drink, something which most people can afford. I think the trick with keeping us funded would be encourage MANY people to donate a little bit, rather than rely on a FEW generous doners. The chance of WINNING (rather than just buying) a nymph / mark for just $5, and even if you don't, a fun competition and a guaranteed forum award. All you have to do, is buy the Community one little drink!
So... What does The Elementalist Serve?
Each Element has a potion. Twelve Elements, twelve months in a year. Each month, the rather hapless Barman has brewed us a little drink...
These actual event ideas are very rough and would need a lot of editing from people more experienced and qualified than I, but here it is in rough:
:entropy :entropy :entropyJanuary: Antimatter :entropy :entropy :entropy
Having... overindulged over the New Year, The Elementalist is offering a tonic for our sore bellies. A little Antimatter to return us to full health. Over the festive period we have fallen out with our Elements family. It's time for some New Year's Resolutions. Something to fix our problems...
A card design competition. Bring something New to the community! This new card should have a "Resolution / New Beginning / Problem Solving" theme.
:death :death :deathFebruary: Aflatoxin :death :death :death
The barman has served us a tasty beverage. Only to discover a Deathstalker has fallen into the batch! Lying there at the bottom of the barrel, its viscous poison has tainted the brew! A fight ensues over the barman's limited stock of purifies!
This event is a mini-league. Each player plays each other ONCE. The match consist of 3 rounds, no more no less. Each round victory awards 1 purify counter, each loss one poison counter. Deckbuilding rules TBC.
:gravity :gravity :gravityMarch: Black Hole :gravity :gravity :gravity
The barman is not happy. Sure it was his fault that the Aflatoxin was poisonous, but did everyone have to fight IN the pub... the MESS! And now it was last orders and nobody was leaving. Only one thing for it... in order to clear the bar he serves us a round of Black Holes! We find ourselves plucked from existence, in a dark nothingness. We must somehow create something to save us from this non-existance. But only one thing can CREATE from nothingness. A GOD.
Deck-building competition. Each player must build an original FALSE GOD style deck, and explain it's back-story.
:earth :earth :earthApril: Basilisk Blood :earth :earth :earth
It's a wonder we keep coming back here with the crazy barman's shenanigans. But we do. This time he promises his brew will make us twice as strong, adding a might 20hp to our frames. He's right! It even has the side-effect of reducing our urge to batter each other to death with bar-stools - we can't move! I suppose we'll have to entertain ourselves another way... it's story time!
Short story competition. Write a tale about element creatures / the community / an epic battle to brag to your bar-mates.
:life :life :lifeMay: Adrenaline :life :life :life
Well wasn't this a good plan? Give a bunch of powerful, rowdy, drunk elementals a bottle of Adrenaline?!
Tournament - Speed Building: RNG 2 elements, then your opponent gives you 2 cards you must NOT use. Make a duo in 5 mins. Best of 3.
:fire :fire :fireJune: Rage Potion :fire :fire :fire
You would think he would learn! As the last pieces of rubble from our crazed adrenaline-fueled battle are swept away, we celebrate with a bottle of... wait... what?!
Tournament. Decks must be 30 cards, no shields, permanent control or any non-pillar/pend cards which are not CAPABLE of dealing damage to an opponent. (Might need work for balance, but you get the idea)
:water :water :waterJuly: Nymph's Tears :water :water :water
The barman has served us a beautiful refreshing beverage, we clamor for more! As we push to get to the bar we notice a horrible sight! The crazy barman has captured a Nymph Queen and is serving us her tears! A cry goes out as we call to the Nymphs to rescue their Queen!
Deck-building Competition. Build a Duo deck including at least 2 nymphs, and at least 4 "potion cards" (the Nymphs grab them as they crash into the bar) and write a short story about how their deck rescues the Queen.
:light :light :lightAugust: Luciferin :light :light :light
The barman has temporarily had his licence pulled. All he can serve is holy water "Luciferin" (not to be confused with Lucozade). But this wonderful beverage clears our heads and we see the world clearly for the first time in months!
Photography / Photoshop: Take a picture from the web, or take one yourself, and (badly) photoshop something from elements onto the scene. This can be funny or beautiful, your choice. I like the idea of a Shrieker emerging from a penalty spot causing a scuffed shot for example.
:air :air :airSeptember: Unstable Gas :air :air :air
The atmosphere has been a bit low-key in The Elementalist for a while now, so the barman whips up some Unstable Gas. Cue fart jokes!
Comedy Competition: Submit a funny story, a joke, a re-written song lyric or anything else to combine elements with funny!
:time :time :timeOctober: Precognition :time :time :time
(Look at it, it is a potion, you drink it and have premonitions, just accept it!) This little potion is a trouble maker. Once drunk, we all have a vision of what we think is the future. Unfortunately we all have the same vision... winning a tournament!
Tournament: We have a little foresight. RNG a Duo. Your opponent gives you one card you MUST use at least 4 of. This can't be a card that is unplayable in your chosen duo, and can't be a card which you would never use 4 of (a shield for example). (This probably also needs work)
:darkness :darkness :darknessNovember: Liquid Shadow :darkness :darkness :darkness
WHAT HAS HE DONE? We feel this hunger bubbling within us... all we want is... BLOOD!
Card Design for fictional Element: The new element is BLOOD. Imagine 3 cards which would go into this element, a weapon, a creature and a potion/spell.
:aether :aether :aetherDecember: Quintessence :aether :aether :aether
Christmas is almost here, and the barman is tired of all the fighting, so he lets us all know that any fights will be pointless, as we are all invulnerable. Once we settle down, we all have a little think, and write a festive elemental poem.
Poetry Writing: Write an elements / Christmas Poem!

Heya'll, so I've got a good idea. Not just some kind of boring card/deckbuilding/writing competition again. I present to you, The 5 Minute Forum Game Challenge. It's inspired by real-life events.
Like I said, this isn't your usual kind of competition. So, the rules are a little bit different. But I'm pretty sure it could work pretty well anyways. I think.
So, basically, you would enter the competition by finding one of the COs in chat. They would then PM you the prompt. The prompt would be the name of the competition, followed by a short excerpt. I've prepared two examples: "Weapon Forgery - Become the ruler of Zanzarifica by forging the ultimate Golden Sword," or " Underground Dragons - Using subterfuge and deceit, become the last surviving Dragon." The prompt would be specific, but open to a lot of different interpretations. Now, once you're messaged the prompt, then it gets fun.
See, after sending a PM with the prompt, the CO starts the timer. You have 5 minutes to type out the rules to this game. You have to explain how the game is played, how a winner is determined, and as many intricacies of it as you have time for. When the 5 minute timer runs out, whatever you've had time to type is your submission. The COs will copy/paste it and save it for the submission thread, where people will vote on which idea could actually work as a real forum game.

Card Design Competition: Create a card of any of the forum users that have/are.. (won war, placed top 7 in BL, Masters of an Element, etc.) using their avatar, name, and favorite element on their profile!
Writing Competition: Write about the day in the life of.. (a Cockatrice, an Otyugh, antiaverage, etc.)!
Art Competition: More MS Paint competitions about a specific subject, such as cards from the game (think that's been done though), Marks of an Element, Forum Avatars, etc. I think these are the best Art Competitions because... Come on, it's paint. Everybody can use paint.
Just a few ideas that come to mind at the moment, I'll post more later :)

I have a suggestion for deck-building competition. You see, for few couple of months I was working on Pixelated False Gods series, where I essentially took False Gods' decks and personalized them into pixelated beings. The competition is basically the opposite - people draw beings, whether FGs, elders or anything, and then deckbuilders are gonna build decks around those beings.
Rules are simple:
One person draws elemental being, then the other builds a deck around them. After deck are built, people vote for their favorite artwork-deck pair. The pair with most votes wins.
There's only one artwork-deck pair. Sadly, ArtworkA-deckA and artworkA-deckB just isn't gonna work.
Obviously, the artwork is supposed to be original. No stealing or borrowing. Artpieces are also should be drawn specifically for the competition.
And that's about it.

This is a lovely idea. We may use this idea in future, however it won't be for a while because:
a) We just ran a DB comp
b) we are about to run an art comp requested by an admin
c) Brawl will mean a slow-down of Competition Section
If / When we use it, we'll let you know :)

Redux of False Gods: Reloaded (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/competitions/false-gods-competition-reloaded/) but with a few changes:
1) cards can be removed if only one copy exists in the current deck
2) shards are less limited (how much at COs discretion)
3) no submissions too close to any in the original (again, COs discretion)
4) any other changes COs see fit to make
These would make for a much different pool of submissions so no worries about overlap.
Card + Art Design: A card with a name that is one word which is longer than 10 letters
I also want to voice my support for this suggestion
-
A competition where people have to submit funny screenshots from the game. A lot of hilarious things happen during the game, would be fun to share them~

Not really a new idea, but I didn't see a thread for requesting for upcoming comps.
I would really love to see another rendition of MS Paint Card Art. The last we had it was 2 years ago (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/competitions/ms-paint-card-art-8/), and I think it is time to bring it back.
Thanks Comp Organizers, Luna and Aves <3

Something like this may have been done already. But how about a GIF contest? Either make or find a GIF that best represents an elements Card.

This might be silly, and it will be probably lost in the sea of suggestions. >_>
A competition to write pickup lines related to Elements. For example, someone posted in "What People Say In Chat" about an imaginary conversation with dragonsdemesne. In that conversation, he used his collection of nymphs to impress the girl.

I'd like another shot at the false element (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/competitions/(voting)-competition-the-false-elements/), as far as I can see we had 2 (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/competitions/competition-the-false-elements-2/msg1073582/).voting (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/competitions/voting-the-false-elements-2/msg1081248/)
One was in 2011, the other in 2013.
I'd like to see people actually coming up with a large part or even an entire set of a new element.
A card idea has to interact with the game, but with a set of cards they can also interact with each other, allowing you to use mechanics that'd currently be useless in the game.

Daily Life of A False God: Pick a god and write a story detailing their daily routine. Can include things they don't normally do. The sky's the limit, but you would probably want to try to make it as logical as possible.
