Today, you're the CO. Moderating Powers not included.

Users design a competition that they'd like see done on the Elements forum. The winner has their Competition hosted by a CO!

VOTING
Voting has begun! Vote for your favorite candidates that you'd like to see in future Competitions!

Competition#1 : Balancing the Metagame
  • Identify a problem that you think the metagame faces.
  • Design a card as a solution to that problem.
  • You should submit it along with a short explanation of the problem and how your card solves it.

Competition#2 : Card Ideas in Action
  • Pick a card idea from the Card Ideas and Art board.
  • Edit a screenshot to show that card in action.
  • Use multiple screenshots if required (for spells or creature abilities, for example).
Here's an example for the card idea Living Weapon | Biological Weapon (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,30401):

Competition#3 : Design a PvP Event!
  • Design an awesome PvP Event idea.
  • Submit it in the format found here (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,22410).
  • Winning submission is made into an actual PvP Event.

Competition#1 :Mythology Competition
Create a card based on a piece of mythology. Legendary weapons, magical creatures, the gods themselves. Each round will be devoted to a specific mythology. Example image bellow
http://imgur.com/5OO9r

Competition#2 :  Embarrassing Defeat
Take a screenshot of you defeating an enemy in the most humiliating way possible! Take out there last Hp with a single poison while their field is flooded with creatures ready to strike! Beat Dark Matter with tons of quanta in all fields. Be creative!

Competition#3 : Lore Competition
Using your imagination, write a piece of lore about how a card, set of cards, or some other part of elements (electrum, battles, etc) came to be.

FAQs and Notes
*For the first competition, each person should try to post a different god (though repeats are acceptable as long as decks vary by at least 33% of the cards).
*For all three competitions there would first be an initial round where a committee of elected officials would weed down the entires to either 6 entries for the first competition and 10 or 12 entries for the second and third. Then a poll would be set up to allow all members to vote on their favorites. Winners would receive some type of prize, and winners of the Lore competitions would have there lore accepted as part of a growing "official" lore of elements thread.

Competition#1 : Worst card ever
Create a horrible card idea. Horrible as in theme, mechanic or effect. The card must be correctly designed (as in, work as an actual card if it ever were in the game)
Example :

Competition#2 : Whack a (big) mole
Screen a flying titan dying in different ways. The personn with most screens wins.

Competition#3 : RAWR!
Elements creatures always have been on mute. Now it's time to give them a voice!
Choose a card in the game, and put up a short sound it would make in one of three situations :
  • Damaged
  • Attacking
  • Dying

Competition#1: Reverse Elemental Polarity!
Take an existing card and change the element to a contradicting one, (I.E: Water to fire, Wind to Earth, Light to Dark, ect. ect.) you can than change the name of the card and the name of the ability to make it make sense thematically, be interesting and, more importantly, be creative.
NOTE: Can not use monsters that have no abilities (Frog, Photon, ect.) or monsters that already have similar creatures in other elements, (Scorpions, Dragons.)

Competition#2 : Mutation Spree
Snap a shot of the weirdest thing either your or your opponent's monster turned into.

Competition#3 : Writing battle!
Collaborate in teams of two, where each of you is writing from the view of a Elementalist fighting each other! Best writing, plot, intrigue and action will be the winner.

Competition#1 : Element changing cards
Design a card that, upgraded, is of another element (ligt card ==> darkness card)
(http://i.imgur.com/9av6l.png) (http://i.imgur.com/6RDc9.png)

Competition#2 : Funniest Screenshot
Did you see a comedic situation! The best screenshot wins!

Competition#3 : War War
Design a war rule. The best gets added to war 5

FAQs and Notes
In competition 1 the ability is opcional (is only an example)(and in the example, the unupped goes to weapon slot and the upped to shield slot)

Competition#1 : Interface Redesign
Using your photoshop/gimp/paint skills, redesign the game's interface specifically the main screen, the deck/bazaar screen and the battle screen.

Changing the current game's core design/usability is not allowed; e.g. changing the wording/colour/shape/placement of a button is allowed but adding a "sort by..." button in the deck/bazaar screen is not allowed. Description is allowed to provide the reason(s) for your design but it has to be less than 150 words. Example redesign of the deck/bazaar screen:

Competition#2 : The Biggest Loser #2
Three categories: Fastest Turn-to-Lose, Fastest Time-to-Lose and The Most Awesome Looking "Loser" Deck.

Battle is against Elders (Level 3). Contestant may use the trainer but 100x quanta and shards are not allowed. Must use the same deck for each category.

Competition#3 : Card Design Competition: Zodiac
Pick one out of the 12 zodiac signs and create three cards based around that zodiac. These cards must consist of a spell, a permanent and a creature. Two out of three of these cards must have a noticeable synergy.

FAQs and Notes
Competition#1 : Interface Redesign
  • The poll will be divided by 3 categories and each category translate to points. The person with highest points is the winner.
  • The points distribution may be adjusted accordingly by the COs
  • All tasks must be completed or will be disqualified *

Competition#2 : The Biggest Loser #2
  • Each contestant must provide three screenshots:
    • The "You Lost" screen of your fastest Turn-to-Lose
    • The "You Lost" screen of your fastest Time-to-Lose
    • The battle screen showing your deck in action

  • The winner is decided by total points acquired from:
    • The contestant with fastest Turn-to-Lose gets 10 points, the 2nd gets 8 and so on..
    • The contestant with fastest Time-to-Lose gets 10 points, the 2nd gets 8 and so on..
    • A poll will decide The Most Awesome Looking "Loser" Deck. The contestant with highest votes gets 10 points, the 2nd gets 8 and so on..

  • The points distribution may be adjusted accordingly by the COs
  • All tasks must be completed or will be disqualified *

* However, if COs feel that the competition is too big, it's probably better to choose one of the categories instead.

Competition#1 : Doppleganger Card Competition
Take an existing card from the game and create a new card which is thematically the opposite of the original.

from: http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,17243.0.html (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,17243.0.html)

Competition#2 : Screenshot Caption Contest
Take a screenshot in game and add a humorous caption befitting the screenshot.

Competition#3 : Grindhouse
On a fresh account, generate as high of a score as you can over a two hour period.

FAQs and Notes
for the card competition: the element does not need to be the exact opposite, but there needs to be an obvious link between the two cards as well as a stark contrast between them.  mechanics will also be taken into account.  being creative > making vanilla. crucible submission rules and standards apply, must create a basic and upgraded card.
for the screenshot contest: if you are going to use a pun, it better be good.
for the grindhouse competition: if you are going to try to cheat, don't bother playing.

Competition#1 : How Punny
Create a card, with an ability/mechanic and name, that has some sort of pun or wordplay in it. While being humourous, all cards must not be game breaking, and able to be incorporated into the game.

Competition#2 : Elements Avatars
Create a 128x128 pixel image relating somehow to Elements the Game that can be used as an avatar on the forum. The image can be animated or not. You may use work from around the internet so long as you have permission to use it and you emphasize that the image used was not of your own creation. However, you may not simply use someone else's art as your entry. It must be edited or manipulated in some beneficial way. This competition is both humourous and serious.

Competition#3 : Elements Pitch Meeting
Create a presentation as if you were pitching the Elements game to a big time gaming company. Participants must create a slideshow(powerpoint, etc.) presentation representing why Elements would be beneficial to the company. Participants may team up, but there can be no more than 3 people to a team. All presentations must include a minimum of 6 slides, and a maximum of 20 slides. This is a serious competition, joke submission will not be accepted.

Competition#1 : Real Life Cards
Create a Real Life Elements Card!
Draw it, glue it, cut it and post a screenshot photo of the card.
 - Rustler is banned.

Competition#2 : Like a Boss
Post a screenshot (and the Deck used) for different categories and show everyone that you are Like a Boss.
Trainer is NOT allowed, PvP is NOT allowed! All screenshots must be done against any AI 1-6.
 - Most damage in one Turn (Like a overkill Boss)
 - Biggest Creature (Like a pet Boss)
- Biggest Decksize (Like a fat Boss)
 - Have most stuff (Creautres, Hand, Permaments, Quanta) compared to your opponent. (Like a greedy Boss) // (1 creature, 1 permament, 1 handcard and 25 quanta more gives each 1 point)
 - ...etc.etc.

There will be a 3 Step voting to chose the one who is most like a Boss from all the best submissions. If more than one submission is equally good, then the first one is like a Boss.

Competition#3 : Elements Cartoon Theme
Pick any Cartoon or Anime you like and redesign elements to fit into that theme.
You can pick the same show someone else has picked, as long as your submission is unique enough.

Redesigning Elements can be done in many ways, either modify the layout of any Elements the Game (ingame) page, create a set of cards (new element or modify an/multiple existing one/s), design FG's, or do whatever you think would fit your Pick.

FAQs and Notes
To chose the winner, there will be a 3 step voting, all done at the same time and made public when all is done:
1st: Staffs Pick (Voting between the Staff Members), each voting for the top 3.
2nd: Public Vote (Voting for the top 3)
3rd: Zanz's Pick (Zanz picks the Submissions he like, can be more than one... or none.)
The % of the 1st and 2nd Votes will be added and the choices of Zanzarino will recieve each another 10%.

Competition#1 : Adding Lizard and Spock
Spock is an integral part of RPSLS not merely because he is just that awesome, but because he is both just that awesome and the meta-game would be imbalanced with only Rock, Paper, Scissors, and Lizard.
Have you ever thought that if blessing and momentum were removed from the (unupped meta-)game, scorpions would become severely underpowered?
Design no less than 5 (unupgraded) cards that are individually underpowered but collectively balanced!
Cards should be voted on by how imbalanced they are individually and how much the others buff/nerf it (without restricting the current meta-game).
Note that no submissions should force you to carry one of the five cards in your decks for your decks to be "competitive."

Competition#2 : Elemental Portraits
Post a picture of you (the elemental) either posing alongside your favorite creature/permanent or using your favorite spell!
Pictures can be created and developed using any method, be it photoshop, computer graphics, or traditional painting/sketching.
Pictures should be voted on by neither artistic talent nor presentation, but rather how awesome they are.

Competition#3 : "Other" Competition
Other must be lonely, with only permanents (and shard spells).
Design an Other spell or creature!
Then, write a 150-500 words of "lore" to support any thematic decisions (the origin of the theme, the element of the duo-cost, etc).
Submissions should be voted on by the literary aspects of the "lore."

Competition#1 : Synergy
Come up with a card idea that creates a new synergy between two elements. It can be direct (a card that costs one element to play, and a different element to use its ability), or it can be indirect (for example, dune scorpion creates a synergy between time, gravity and light because you need either momentum or blessing to get neurotoxin to activate.)

For example, this card creates a synergy between light and time and can be a nice addition to a dune scorpion/blessing stall deck, as it also takes a while to set up.

Competition#2 : Best Hand
What is the best opening hand that you have experienced in Elements? It doesn't matter if you win or lose the coin toss, but have you been able to play all your cards(no, that does not include a hand of 7/8 pillars), or summon 2 dragons on the first turn?
Take a screenshot of it, and explain why it's a great hand.

Competition#3 : Elements Haiku
For all poets out there, this is for you! Create a haiku about anything elements related.
If you don't know what a haiku is: A poem of seventeen syllables, in three lines of five, seven, and five.

RULES
Submit a competition using the following skeleton format:
Code: [Select]
Competition#1 : ***Title***
***Competition Description***

Competition#2 : ***Title***
***Competition Description***

Competition#3 : ***Title***
***Competition Description***

FAQs and Notes
**notes here***

1. You must submit 3 competitions.

2. Each of your ideas must go under one different category:

1. Card Idea Competition
Design a card to be used in Elements.

2. Elements Screenshot/Picture Competition
Post a screenshot(s) that were taken in-game or an Elements related picture!

3. Other Competition
Any competition not belonging to the above two categories.

3. One of your competitions must have an image relevant to that competition that shows how it works. (For example the screenshot competition has an example screenshot of a submission.)

4. "FAQs and Notes" is an Optional section - you may delete it if you feel it is unnecessary. I strongly recommend using this section to describe any unique parts of your competition(s) (such a long time limit, unusual combination, etc...), or to answer any slight details that rules cannot describe without being explicitly long.

Quote from: Example
1. Card to Use with Holy Cow
We all remember the Holy Cow April Fools card. Now it's time to design a card that has great synergy with Holy Cow!

2. Losercide
Post an epic screenshot or screenshots of you or your opponent losing on purpose.

3. Forum Treasure Hunt
There are 10 pots of gold (small icons) hidden somewhere on this forum. First person to find all 10 (and post links), wins!

The Winner gets a forum award icon and one (possibly more) of their Competition ideas will be hosted on the Elements Forum.

Time's up!, best of luck to all.

Yes. I know this might cause some backlash, but it's in the interest of fairness. (Sorry for those who were planning to use that.)

Also, you don't have to use the "***" in your description - it's just to seperate to "Insert X here" from the code.

Read through it all and was a pretty difficult choice, this competition was the deciding factor though:

Quote
Competition#3 : RAWR!
I really wanna compete in that. :D

if nothing else, many of these ideas are good enough to be competitions even if they arent in the winning entry.

I'm not sure I really like that you have to vote on the groups of three... what if you particularly like one in a group but both the other ideas are meh? Shouldn't we have three different poles each with the 3 different competition types in them? Just curios why this particular format was chosen.

I fully agree with this.

The thing is, that would mean 3 winners.
What i suggest for selecting is choosing the group which you like best on average.

Slightly off-topic: I'm proud to say that my competitions are able to tackle this part. Well.. sort of. :P

hopefully we will see some other entries as competitions as well, some good ideas in here that would be sad top go to waste just because they weren't voted higher

just realized i had already posted something similar a page or two ago, oh well, for emphasis or what have you

We tend to do just that with these competitions. It's just the winner's competitions are done first.
