I've been playing an unupgraded dark deck and have been getting really annoyed at darknes's creature selection.  Devourer's are kinda... well 0/2.  Minor Vampires die to 90% of cards out there, and even dark dragons have relitively low HP.  Heres my attempt to fit a creature into the darkness theme:

Shadow - Cost: Somewhere between 4 and 10 dark, not sure what balance would be.
1/1
Whenever Shadow deals damage it gains +0/+1.
Whenever Shadow takes damage it gains +1/+0.

Upgraded:
Pure Darkness - Cost: Shadow's cost -1
1/2
Whenever Pure Darkness deals damage it gains +0/+1.
Whenever Pure Darkness takes damage it gains +1/+0.

Thoughts? Opinions?  I would assume something like this would be a rare card.  Its obviously really powerful, but also extremely counterable.

I like this. Its not TOO powerful, i don't think it would have to be a rare, but it would need a high quantum cost.

Just wait for it to build a few points of health then infect it. The strength will grow for free every turn.

Yeah, I'm thinking of having a fairly high cost,  It would probably be more effective that the dark dragons, if not countered.  I think a cost around there might be good, but countering it is so easy, I'm not sure.  Also something would have to be done so it couldn't be made immortal.

The other thing I was noticing is that dark needs another creature type, preferably somewhere in between minor vamps and dragons.  I was attempting to fill that need with this card, but I don't think I suceeded, the card would probably end up too powerful.

Not too strong, if it starts with one health, then is can be killed quickly
also you can mutate, improve, freeze or congeal it without its effect happening
Then again if you mutate a 1/1 photon into a 5/12 FireFly queen with this ability, well then crap

Very cool idea. You could also make a card like this using the same idea.

Berserker  3/6

Whenever Berserker takes damage it gains +3/0.

You know, a character who goes crazy when you hit him. :)

When you play the card its a 1/1, it attacks that turn immediatly making it a 1/2.  It probably wouldn't be able to take damage for a few turns without dying, but quickly gainst power.  Also, ironically this is a card that does not combo well with anubis.
