So this shield blocks all spells and blocks creatures with momentum, psion, quint + SoW, and/or SoFree effects? If so, my first instinct is to say no to this card as it seems to break the basic rules of shields. Also, the name of the card is a bit weird. Normally I think of a ramp as being used to get past an obstacle (like a shield for instance) not something that protects.

I think this is definitely OP, because you can use in-element momentum on the opponent's creatures, stopping up to 6 of them for very little quanta.
be quick- time is quanta.

It seems very counter-intuitive that a shield effect would affect a creature whose status that makes it immune to shield effects.

Perhaps make it a creature instead, that disables the effect of any of your equipped shields?

It was balanced against reflective shield; obviously SoW+Quint is two cards, and much more expensive, but it also reflects the creature's damage back to the opponent, plus four.

Compare to gravity shield, which combos just as well with heavy armor.

They also have a higher yield, however. Momentum can be lobotomized, unlike SoW+reflect, and obviously will not damage the opponent.

I am sorry, but momentum means that a creatures ignores shield effects, no ifs ands or butts. This card breaks this fundamental definition in elements, and because of it I am against this card. If it was a stand alone permanent or a creature with the ability to decapitate creatures with momentum this idea would be open to unbiased consideration, but the thought that a shield effect can stop a creature with the effect to ignore shields creates a paradoxical loop of logic that think would be bad to introduce to the game.

You don't understand; programming has nothing to do with it. This is just as bad as a spell like "Target immaterial creature dies," because it creates an exception in the card text of all cards that may showcase the affected mechanic (Momentum, Sapphire Charger).



Also, this card is kinda UP because, unless you dedicate your deck to the Momentum+Ramp combo, Ramp is very likely a dead card; changing it into a creature that can toggle the "ramp" effect on/off would be much easier to balance.

The same could be said for Reflective Shield. It's a dead card unless you happen to have SoW and Quint.

Let's take a look at your 'target immaterial dies' example.



Nowhere does it say that it can't die. In fact, fire shield and thorn carapace kill it just fine.
