ART: foxrain4 IDEA: Shantu NOTES: [ Passive: Ranged (like Owl's Eye) ] I've had this idea for a year or two three years now, was looking for some art but couldn't really find anything. Finally decided to just post it. Thematically, Light Cannon is pretty much what it sounds like. It emits highly concentrated sunlight to ignite things. Mechanically, this is some in-element PC for Light with a catch: you have to have 2 of these in the game, both targeting the same permanent with their ability. This shouldn't be too easy due to the creature's fragility. It is also supposed to fill a lack of attack creatures in Light, especially unupped. It is certainly not a Mummy or a Graboid in terms of rush potential, but it should be able to form a potent offense with some Pegasus or Crusader support. Upgraded and unupgraded versions can be combined for the ability. SERIES:

Light Cannon's skill is pretty neat,
requiring a group of cards/creatures to activate a skill is fun.

but in elements, you can only have 6 same copies of a card,
you will have to burn half of your deck to get 3 Light Cannons,
and then your opponent destroy 1 of your Light Cannon

it makes Light Cannon skill really difficult to cast to the point that
Light Cannon's skill is as good as nothing.

This is probably one of the few times that I agree with foxrain. Requiring three cannons almost forces you to use cards like Mitosis/PU/Fractal.

I'd say two would be better.

Also, since it's a creature, I'd say that it might be better to make it an actual sentient thing instead of a weapon (since those are permanents).

Love it. I would double the cost of the skill and require only 2 creatures to focus on the permanent in order to destroy it. It would still be balanced and could be more playable.

True, but Photon isn't like a floating book or something. This is an artifact type of thing, which is already covered in Permanents.

And SoF has to be a shard because it's a shard.

Thanks a lot for the feedback and the art! I originally intended the upgraded version to be the way you suggested (2 , 2 cannons) but went with the 3 cannon version for some reason. I updated the card and it seems better now.

As for the sentient creature part, there really is no reason why it couldn't be controlled by one. Maybe there is some spirit inhabiting it, maybe there is some light being operating it.

There is one more thought that has been nagging at me. What if it had spell damage? It would make sense for reflective shields to reflect the damage... On the other hand, that could easily be too much stuff in one card, and it would make it very similar to Psion. There is also little space on the card as it is. What are your thoughts about this?
