IDEA:

NOTES:
Lava spot affects only 1 creature area spot.
Creatures on top of lava spot will be killed even if its fire creatures.

Lava gobbling will cause your opponent to stops summoning creatures.
So lava gobbling is not just another devour, its something much more powerful.

Note that Lava Devourer do not get +1/+1 like otyugh,
so Lava Devourer does not grows and therefore not making otyugh useless.

The lava spot concept is interesting, however flooding consumes :water per turn for a large area outside of the minimal monster spot (limits the amount of monsters the opponent can play),

lava spots should not be permanent creature killing spots (I am assuming they are?)

Instead I can recommend that it lasts for say 2 turns maybe? That way its not just an overly strong altrnative to flooding that is free of maintenance.

Question: How would this work vs pheonix, will pheonix ash die instantly?

Also I think the card is too cheap because it is mono element,
Either justify it by making it duo with another element for the ability or
Increasing cost of upgraded creature at least.
(Think of Otyugh, despite it gaining stats)

Lava spots are for 2 turns.
Pheonix will die at the end of turn,
so Pheonix ash will die at the end of next turn.

Yep, sounds too powerful.

I think it's too powerful.

Say you have one creature out, and it gets eaten by an opponent's lava devourer.  You now have to play two creatures to have one survive.  If that one gets eaten as well, you'd have to play three and so on.  Sure, they only last two turns, but with it's relatively low cost, your opponent will have more out by then and it just goes downhill from there.

I think it'd be better if instead of instantly killing a creature, it did damage.

Messing with slot mechanics makes things all weird.
If the creatures are respawned in the Lava Spots left by this creature, then I'll just kill the creature lying in the first slot, thereby killing every other creature the opponent spawns and thereby making this the most broken game mechanic I've ever seen.
On the other hand, if the creatures aren't respawned in the lava spots, this is virtually useless.
