Essence 
The Theme: Essence powered by the death and destuction of other cards. Essence quanta is generated via it pillars when something else leaves play = to the cost + 1 if cost is 0. spells enter and leave play the moment they are cast so their cost is added to essence = to # of Essence pillars. Essence comes from the belief that nothing is ever destroyed only transformed.

I'm pretty sure the current version is a pseudoquanta, or an alternate cost mechanic, since it doesn't count as Random quanta (or rather, it can't without being unbalanced).

If something adds a quanta pool then it is not merely a pseudoquanta.
Since it is quanta being produced it is not merely an alternate cost mechanic.

No. Alternate cost mechanic merely implies that the designer had the cost of the card include a cost other than quanta in order for the card to cost less quanta to play. See immolation or shard of integrity.
