NOTES:
"Take your time today"

"There is a time and a place for everything... and this do-hickey tells you the time"

Inspired by the 'hearthstone' resource generation mechanic.
This card is an attempt to allow a similar mechanism to be used in EtG.
This card could potentially allow decks to require much less card space being dedicated to quanta generation, which would open up a lot of new deck construction options.

This card was built as a time card due to the thematic connection. It could fit equally well as type other card as well, or could be restructured to make a separate version for each element and remove the activation requirement.

The first line means that if the player puts these in their deck, they will automatically have at least one copy in their opening hand. The clause 'starts ready' means that it can be activated on the same turn as it was played.

Unlike other quanta sources, this card fills the chosen pool to a fixed level rather than adding quanta to it. If the affected pool already has an equal or greater amount of quanta in it, nothing will happen. This card should trigger before pillars, so having both this and pillars in a deck could be useful.

Ex1:
It is turn 2. You have 0 :time quanta. You activate an unpgraded copy of this card and have it target itself. It fills your :time pool to 2 quanta

Ex2:
Same as ex1 except you have 1 :time quanta in your pool. Your :time pool gets set to 2 at the end of the turn.

Ex3:
You have 3 :time quanta or more. Nothing happens

Ex4:
It is turn 2, You have 0 :time a :time pillar an this card. You activate it and have it target itself. It fills your :time pool to 2 then the pillar adds 1 more :time so you have a total of 3 :time quanta in your pool.

SERIES:

Whether the glass is half full or half empty is a moot point. It is always filled to the brim. It is only a matter of by what. The real question is: What fills you?

TLDR: OP.

It looks technically better than Quantum Locket of oEtG, and the locket is already an extremely good and versatile card useful in any deck outside monos.
  • Locket: Generate 1 quanta of the selected element at the end of your turn (like a pillar).
  • Chronometer: Generate X quanta of the selected element at the end of your turn.
And this is not counting the "start in hand" effect.

The Locket already lets you have the quanta of the element you need in the moment you need it, making several trios and quartets viable that are not just with pillars and pendulums.

There should be some kind of cost to it. Even if the cost is just in health. Something like for each 1 quanta generated by it, you lose 5 health.

The difference is that this card is slower than locket the first 1-2 turns. This card doesn't generate, it sets the element to a certain number. It's vulnerable to PC since it only becomes really useful after 3-5 turns. I still think it's slightly op.

Automatic in opening hand is a strong benefit than could be removed to balance it. But I like that idea and like to keep it. I agree with Tribal that a cost for use would be a better way to balance it. Maybe it should consume 1-2 of the last used element you set?

Lol, I guess I overvalued the impact of the slower speed relative to lockets...

So how about removing the start in opening hand clause and change ability text to:
"N HPs: Fill target's element pool to N at end of turn. Starts ready. N=turn count."

So it costs you health to use and the amount of health used is the amount of quanta it fills the pool to.

As an alternative:
"N-1: Fill target's element pool to N at end of turn. Starts ready. N=turn count."
So that requires the player to spend 1 less quantum than the card will fill the chosen pool to.
That would also mean that it would only be cost effective when used on a pool that has 1 or less quanta in it.
With that effect, this is actually very well suited to entropy or gravity (due to thematic connection with the mathematics)

Multi-Sky Blitz FTW  :sillyspin:
how so? This card does not produce quanta (i.e. fill the pool) until the end of the turn.
