(element) Extract | (element) Flask https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=51093.msg1096052#msg1096052
« on: September 09, 2013, 07:00:40 pm »
I have thought about starting a series of permanents (at the moment, but open to changes like spell) which would act as a last resource temporary pillar. As it is quite difficult to explain here, I've designed the card for entropy without any art just to see how it would work like.
NAME:
Entropy Extract
ELEMENT:
Entropy
COST:
1 :entropy
TYPE:
Permanent
ATK|HP:

TEXT:
Gain 2 :entropy when this card is played. 0 : Draw a copy of this card
NAME:
Entropy Flask
ELEMENT:
Entropy
COST:
2
TYPE:
Permanent
ATK|HP:

TEXT:
Gain 2 :entropy when this card is played. 0 : Draw a copy of this card

ART:

IDEA:
Eddygp
NOTES:
This will be part, if it follows, of the Extracts Series.
So the pros and the cons are the following.
Pros:
  • Once you deploy the first card, it is easy to get going drawing Extract or Flask copies to your hand and playing them.
  • It works as a rainbow aid for some decks that need some major attention to a particular element.
Cons:
  • Very slow to depend uniquely on this for a lot of quanta.
  • Medium time inversion of quanta, not useful for OTK decks.
THE CARD DISAPPEARS AFTER X TURNS (see poll)
SERIES:
Extracts
So comment, feedback, vote and most importantly give ideas!
Thanks!

But, the unupped is completely useless? It costs 2 :entropy to play, and you get 1 by playing it.

My bad! It was supposed to be the other way round hahaha!
OK, so now it is repaired, I wanted to say that every other Extract or Flask will be exactly the same as this one, only changing  :entropy by whatever other element it is.

Seems still pretty useless. Sure, you gain 1 quanta by playing it, but I could have played nova instead for the same effect. As for the ability, since it costs 1, and it costs another 1 to play the drawn card, you don't get anything by using it.

EDIT: I am a fan of the idea though, it just must be made more effective to get any use.

OK... it could give you 3  :entropy instead of 2  :entropy when you play it. However, the price of 1 :entropy to draw a copy is more than essential because otherwise it would be OP or useless. What do you think?
EDIT: By the way, you can't pay several times (the :entropy to draw a copy) in one nova to get more novas. Therefore this is original and efficient as a multiplication half-pillar.

No but using the ability is useless anyway, since you won't gain any quanta. BNot sure how to make it usable though. I guess increasing the gain to 3 would be pretty good.

READ THIS BEFORE POSTING YOUR CARD IDEA!
Yes, sorry. I didn't know how to do it bearing in mind that the Entropy one was just an example.

Or it might just be better suited for Pre-Smithy : o

On topic: Unupped, this card would become a very, very interesting one if you either reduced the casting cost or (!) the ability cost to 0.
Let's say you chose the latter:

Turn 1: +1 Quantum
2: +1
3: +2
4: +4
5: +8
[...]
Turn 10: +256 Quantum

I'd say that would be a balanced card. Often UP as it needs too much time to have a good effect, but with a huge potential especially for stalls and a specifically great synergy with Diss Shield.

Well, just a random idea. Either way a card with potential, if you can keep up the quality, please create a series out of this.

Maybe I misunderstoos, but I got the impression that drawing a copy simply would draw another copy that you actually have in the deck, not create a new copy of it. That would mean there are no way to get that much quanta from it. But now when Marsu mentions it, I guess that creating a copy might be a better idea, so which is it that you intended?
