In a AI FG game the AI animated a morning glory, which should be completely untargetable. When its animated, it takes this (supposedly) untargetable immaterial status with it.

you don't target things with animate weapon, it just animates it. It also works on PA'd weapons. It's not a bug.

Neither does lighting storm,  retrovirus, pandemonium, and others, yet immaterial protects from them.

I would dispute that animate weapon doesn't target your weapon anyway. Its only that you can only have one weapon at a time that a actual target mechanism doesn't come up, but then your talking about the semantics of gameplay mechanisms rather then the spirit of the ability "immaterial"

Different code. AW targets your weapon SLOT, while Mass control cards actually target a creature at a time.

You sure mention alot of immaterial stuff in your posts, that it destroys the weapons isn't proof that the weapon isn't targeted, anymore then steal destroying a item and recreating it on your side is proof that steal doesn't target anything.

So your saying it targets the weapon slot?  Xdude already said that, so you didn't contribute anything to the thread Higurashi.

The text on morning glory says "this cannot be destroyed or stolen," which is odd, because you just said animate weapon destroys it.
Different code. AW targets your weapon SLOT, while Mass control cards actually target a creature at a time.
Ah.  But the text on animate weapon says "turn your weapon into a creature".  It in no way mentions the weapon slot, ever.  In fact, that answer was backward engineered, instead of changing the game to match the cards, the cards were changed to match the game.  That's a big no-no.

Unfortunately, this is not a bug.  While the cards expressly disagree with it, that's what is supposed to happen.  Sorry.

It doesn't destroy the weapon, its more of an evolution like Graboid.  It turns the weapon into a creature version of the weapon.  Its not a bug.  Thats the way the game works TruePurple.

No, it does destroy it in the way that it removes the card from play completely, then plays a new one. The destroy effect it's immune to is an in-game mechanism you can trigger with perm control, but Animate Weapon doesn't take that route. It's purely technical.
