Well, this is it. I would like to thank you lot in FHM for being part of my first, and probably last, Brawl.

Espithel, stay unusual, dude. You're unique as hell. Don't change that. Sometimes the weirdness isn't viable for some things, and that's alright. Sometimes your activity faltered, and mine did too, but you put a ton of work into this.

fabian711, continue to harness your creativeness and make some beautiful things. I know you can do it. Thanks for doing what you needed to do, and in a timely manner.

Manuel and worldwideweb3, thank you guys for stepping into the fray blindly and giving us some valuable input. You guys did some awesome things in the 2 rounds you were with us; applaud yourselves.

Coffeeditto and Skotadi_Phobos... hmm.. I wish you guys wouldn't have gone inactive. I guess emergencies happen, but, still a bit disappointed.

A note to myself; don't get discouraged/want to tap out when odds are unfavorable, and when you're forced out of your comfort zone. You're more creative than you think you are.

We suffered some from inactivity and demotivation, but hey, we weren't last, so that's pretty nice.

Thank you again.

Posted here, too, because I have no shame.

Congratulations Abyss Brawlers! You guys consistently had great submissions, and from what I'm seeing, you were by far the most active team as well. You guys deserved this one!

Thanks also to our lovely Brawlmasters Naesala, CleanOnion, and Zawadx for all your work organizing the event!(and dealing with all our late submissions)

And to my team, the League of Shadows! For a chill first Brawl experience.

Hyroen, it a pleasure to work with you. You came up with a lot of ideas and had an excellent eye for detail. You were definitely one of our main engines of activity. Keep it up over in CI&A!

Khaleesi, you're a great artist. Consistently awesome work-- you've put in 110% for the team! I look forward to seeing what you'll announce next. While not being able to finish in the last round was a little disappointing, it's totally understandable-- all the best in your studies!

Physsion, as always, a pleasure to work with you. I've learned a lot from stealing your BBCode! :P Don't be too disappointed that we didn't take it all; we put in a good effort, and what we achieved was respectable. A shame about the last round, but hey, life happens. Not everybody gets to challenge RootRanger to GM battles, participate in a DG, and Brawl all on top of your workload. Keep up the good work!

rogerluc, I was looking forward to getting to know you better after the craziness of the R16 EC. It's a shame that you were too busy, but all the best to you and your family!

Linkcat, we got off to a rocky start, and I didn't really see you putting in too much work. I'd assume that you were busy, but if you're active enough to lobby for an all-day mafia competition now... Eh. Thanks for the work you did put in, and better luck in future endeavors.

I want to apologize to the rest of the League of Shadows, and especially to Physsion, who I was really excited to be working with. I was almost completely absent during the last two rounds of Brawl, and I even managed to bungle two of the rounds that I actually tried to help in. Around the end of the auction, shit happened, and life comes first. However, I still let you all down, and there's nothing I can do to make up for it. I'm truly sorry.

WELL DONE TEAM!

Seriously, I could not be more happy right now, and I'm so glad all of our hard work paid off.

Krzysiekxd (yes, spelled without looking, I have seen so much of it):

I do not know what I would have done if you had ever gone inactive, because you were a wonderful creative workaholic. Apparently you got up at 6am just to do some of a Round 6 task before going to work. Amazing. The reason you were my first choice for artist is because of your brilliant sense of humor and creativity with how to go about a job. You are far, far, far too modest and should believe in yourself more.
NOTE TO OTHER TEAMS: I ignored the wishes of Krzy (and some other team members) and accepted the 15 point art wager from Chaosomes in round 6. I hope Krzy believes in himself more now :P

Fippe94

Active throughout Brawl despite a heavy RL workload, and a wonderful CD. What I loved about his style of CD is that it was very game-focused, with just enough odd-creativity to make you smile, but not so much as to make you say 'wat'. Thanks for your effort at the end of Round 6 to smash through the last few CD challenges, and thanks for the consistency in your activity. Even with 1 day left in a round, I knew you would get your task done (even if I occasionally threw a 'Progress Report?' your way :P

majofa

I did not know you prior to Brawl, except in the context of your event running. I bid on you because of a reputation, and acknowledgement in your app, that you would critique without reservation. I back myself as someone who can keep morale high, I wanted someone who would give good advice without any reservation for morale at all. You were excellent. Short, to the point and accurate in proofreading, solid advice giving and always, always did your task (even if it took me a few rounds to get to grips with the fact you would always, always submit it on the last day :P) Your lovely comment earlier in this thread means a lot to me from such an outstanding member of the community. 10/10 would work with again.

Silver Emerald

Ohh my little gamble paid off now didn't it! For sentimental reasons, I wanted a relatively unknown writer, because that's what I was last Brawl. I knew that I could help with ideas if that's what was needed, or formatting and grammar if that's what was needed. You have such an excellent imagination and created works which were just lovely to read. You also were not precious about your work which is so important in a team competition, so were totally happy with me cutting or editing parts to make it more voter-friendly. Missed one round, but that's ok because RL comes first, and you made up for it with 5 excellent rounds. That Locked-Room submission was inspired!

kirbylover314

Brawl fell in at a busy time for you IRL, but you still submitted (and did it well) in 2 tasks. I wanted you for 2 reasons: 1. Forum experts are hard to come by, 2. you are one of my favorite people on the forums. That hasn't changed, so don't beat yourself up for being less active than you would have wanted. I really love the work you put in to the alphabet task too :) Hope to see you around soon :)

Brawlmasters

Excellent work. A couple of moments when I didn't necessarily agree with calls, and a couple of instances where you could have given teams more notice of what decisions had been made, but in general you ran the event excellently. CleanOnion, you are fantastic and I really, really hope you will be Brawlmaster next brawl, because i think the event will need you if it has a big overhaul.

Other Teams

FHM (2 girls 1 brawl): THANKYOU for keeping going. It's inspiring, and I hope you found a way to enjoy your predicament. Hey! you didn't come last!
Gaia: I think you were very unlucky sometimes, both in team activity and in voting. i hope you guys enjoyed Brawl, because you came up with some lovely submissions, just got swallowed up in a few tasks by people with more time or a slightly better idea than yours.
ATNT: Some of your submissions were utterly brilliant. Everything you did had an obvious sense of humor and i always felt like you had a smile on your face. Mathman wins the award for my favorite brawl member not in my team. You were the heartbeat to this brawl.
LoS: SUCH a well rounded team, and I feel a little unlucky. Your submissions were all excellent, but I think you suffered from not always considering humor. It's a little sad, because sheer proficiency should have been considered more by voters. I think Khalissi's art was as good as andre's most of the time, and should have had more votes. I think Krzy stole some 'Cool!' and 'Funny XD' votes, and andre stole some of your 'Oh Wow!' votes, leaving you in a slight gap.
Chaosomes: Never complained about the fact that russian and andre had to do most of the tasks by the end, and came up with consistently hilarious and amazingly beautiful submissions. A really worthy opponent and i hope both of you join again next brawl. Well done, you made round 6 so stressful by being ahead of us that it makes victory all the sweeter. Be proud of your work.

Brawl!

Brawl is amazing. Teams losing activity is a part of it. Mad, senseless rushes are part of it. Friendly rivalry (SCREW YOU FHM! :P ) are part of it.
Everyone should sign up. Try to stay active if you do, and remember: the more you put in to an event like this, the more you get out of it.
All people should dedicate a portion of their lives to being creative. Brawl is a wonderful part of the forums because it does just that.
Brawl is the crazy, irrational, brilliantly hectic left hemisphere of the forum. Never amputate it, or we'll be rational, organized... but ultimately a bit boring.

Wow, boss, such a big team/brawl review. But that summarizes YOU perfectly, the TRUE team worcaholic.  You covered all what should have been covered. And you did it always well. Amazing work and Abyss Brawlers thank you for all what you have done! As far as I remember we didn't have any missing submissions, thanks to you boss.

Working with you was a pleasure, when I told you I need Blue Submarine cover, you did it without hasitation, the same with voice to the last round video.

Now some backstage story.
I'm really greateful boss that you believed in me from very beginning, it turned out you believe in me more than myself :P (Oh, I really don't know if it's modesty really, it's just a realism + constructive criticism. In my objective view, I can't produce art of Khali and andre's quality (yet) so I knew only humor could save us ;) ).

JCJ sent it to me on January 21st:
Spoiler for JCJ's private message to me before Brawl:
Hi Krzysie!

I don't know if you know, but I'm one of Brawl #5's bosses, and I have been thinking for a while (having loved seeing your work in competitions, and enjoyed our conversations about my Community Member interview) that I'd love to be on a brawl team with you. I give you two options to think about:

a) You join the team (Abyss Brawlers) as a full active member, kick total ass as one of the absolute best artists on the forum, we win, shiney trophy.
b) If you were undecided about applying because of the time-sink, I would like to propose that you join, and I take on some of your tasks.(with my modest pen-and-paper artistic skill (Boss task, Frostbite Borealis, here when i did this task instead of dd)) The only ones which I would neeeed you to do would be the ones needing computer-based art, but you could obviously take on whatever you had time for.

If you don't want to put my team as one of your favourites, I'd be sad, but that would be great too, because the event could use as many great artists as possible :)

All the best!
JCJ

Thanks you chose me boss!

I need to add that he believed in all of us:
"I'm ecstatic I got all of you, and I think we have a great chance of winning this thing!"

You were 100% right! We did it! We were a solid, hard-working and creative team! Big thanks to all of my team, especially for buoying me up after round 3 when my art failed (in my view).

Now let's

Welp, Brawl is over and done with.  My first stint as boss went about as well as can be expected.  I'd like to thank the MVP andre for keeping the team going as player after player dropped out.  He was able to take my scrambled thoughts and polish them into truly glorious submissions.  Crocket, you have the makings of a great brawler, and I wish I was more clear when accepting a substitute that it wasn't for you (especially given what happened there).  The fact that you didn't complete things isn't as big a deal as you think, and you will find your beginnings in several of our submissions.

I'll try not to go back into full hibernation until next Brawl.  Hope to see everyone there again.
