Title: Light Novels

A light novel (ライトノベル raito noberu?) is a style of Japanese novel primarily targeting middle and high school students (young adult demographic). The term "light novel" is a wasei-eigo, or a Japanese term formed from words in the English language. For short, light novels are often called ranobe (ラノベ ranobe?) or LN in the West. They are typically not more than 40,000–50,000 words long (the shorter ones being equivalent to a novella in US publishing terms), rarely exceed 200 pages, are usually published in bunkobon size, and are often illustrated. The text is often serialized in anthology magazines prior to collection in book form.

1. How often do you read light novels, if at all?
2. What was your first light novel?
3. What's your favorite light novel?

1. I read them often enough. It's easier to read light novels than it is to download/stream anime, since I can start and stop whenever I want. In addition, it's easier to read things (rather than look at images) that I wouldn't want the people around me to see if they were to glance at my computer. ::)

2. Hm...I think my first light novel was SwordArt Online. I spent a whole school break reading it, and ended up not doing the homework assigned. ^-^ Totally worth it.

3. My favorite would be The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzuka.

3. Suzumiya is the only ones I've read.

Finished the 7 Kara no Kyokai (Garden of Sinners) novel two years back, an awesome piece of work.
