Perhaps a name like "Brave Phalanx" or similar would be acceptable?  It would at least be shorter than "Derivative of Mathematician's Phalanx", be different than just 'Phalanx', and still give a bit of homage to the original idea (which seems to be from Phalanx)...

How many times can Phalanx be fit and typed into one post?  FIVE!  :D

I've been using this deck for farming the gold arena so I just wanted to stop lurking quietly on the forums and give some of my thoughts on it :D

I'm using it with +1 shard of focus -1 shard of readiness because I don't have six shards of readiness, which doesn't seem to hurt its effectiveness and might actually help to more consistently deal with permanents. It feels helpful and I don't seem to have problems with not getting shards of readiness for the combo, at any rate. Because I'm poor I've found that this deck works fine when not all the shards are upgraded, that upgrading the rewinds and mummies is the most important and that it sort of works when the death pendulums are not upgraded, but upgrading them makes a very noticeable difference in quickly getting the combo out and not getting screwed over by quantum denial decks.

Sometimes it's helpful to play a shard of readiness on your biggest scarab to eat creatures that are still too large for your other scarabs. Remembering to do that has saved me a few times.

It is quite difficult to improve on the reliability of this deck (not necessarily impossible).

Here is a rundown of why the cards are in the deck in their proportions:

The full combo is really mummy + rewind + SoR + nova + (death pend or (2 * nova)). You absolutely need all these cards to get the combo going. So it is really a 5-6 card combo! No wonder it is so unreliable, right?

So, what to change?

I am pretty sure that mark of gravity is correct. Gravity is the only quanta you want a source of throughout the game, and your pendulums are highly likely to be all destroyed the turn after you play them.

I could see taking out the purify. The purify is a gamble that you will lose to poison or SoSac unless you draw it. You may very well lose to SoSac even if you do draw it, so it is definitely a candidate. It depends on the metagame I guess.

I could see taking out a Shard of Focus too. But remember that it serves many purposes. It protects against lobotomizers and eternities, it destroys shields, it cripples decks by taking out non-mark pillars, it heals with black hole (significant amounts vs. rainbow), and it sometimes soaks up CC. It is very good to have at least 1 during almost every game.

I could see taking out 1 SoR, but the power of the deck comes from dumping as many SoR as possible on the pharaoh. Taking out a SoR will increase your expected turn to kill, and obviously will decrease the chances of getting the combo. It is better to have 2 * SoR + pharaoh than 2 * pharaoh + SoR.

Taking out a shard of bravery should make the deck less reliable, not more reliable. It is bad to draw 2 shards of bravery, but if you don't have the combo in hand, shard of bravery can easily get you the combo.

6 novas is almost certainly correct. I think that 10 novas and no pendulums would be better, if that were allowed. Remember that 2 novas can essentially substitute for a pendulum, and you pretty much need novas for SoF.

So the remaining 12 cards are split evenly between pendulums, mummies and rewinds. The hope is to get one of each in your opening hand. If you had to choose 1 to bump up, it would be the rewind because that is the most useful card to have 2 of.

SoB is quite a nice touch! Although I personally don't like it because it gives your opponent more cards, and Mummy Grinder/Plalanx is weak in terms of durability. It gets outrushed easily, so I wouldn't go without the vampire dagger. It is a tradeoff, more rush for more potential damage. And, more rush means faster grinding! As a grinder and maximiser myself, I have an affinity for rushes because they finish games fast. So... good job making Mummy Grinder/Phalanx rushier!

Bring this compliment to the undertaker's when 1.32 comes out.
PVE shouldn't be all about copying a deck code and converting time into electrum, score, and potentially rares.
If the only way to derive fun from a game is its PVP content, then non-hardcore players a.k.a. the mass are alienated from the hardcore community.

I used this version of this OP Deck for a long time and made my collection of upped shard and weapons quite complete (an earned more than 100k electrum) by grinding platinum. I played hundreds of games without stats but I confirm the win rate of 60-70 %. One good thing is that you know early if you will lose and quit. I always thougt that it is a perfect platinum deck. If you get your combo in the first round you will win 90%. It does not matter if the opponent is gold or platinum. (With the mamed exceptions: Mono aether, Miracle stall, SoSa).
In my view it is fair enough that 1.32 will end this.

This version should maximize the chance to get the combo. I dont know if someone else posted it, but this appeared logical to me: 2x6 cards 3x5 cards and 1x3 cards.
