12 Lives - #5

Players battle and try to reduce their opponents' lives until only one remains.


1. HOW TO SIGN UP?
Anyone with a forum and a chat account can sign up for this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully. Then sign up by posting on a separate sign up topic. If you cannot find a sign up topic, or if it is locked, this event is not currently active, and you will have to wait for it to restart.

There is no maximum amount of participants in this event.


2. GETTING READY
Each player starts with 12 lives, one for each element. These represent the Mark a player can use in their deck.

Lives and Elimination
The 12 Lives event centers around each player's 12 lives -- one for each Mark in the game. Every individual fight within a match, you risk whatever Mark you choose to use. If you win that fight, you keep your life.  If you lose that fight, you cannot use that Mark again. Since you can't build a deck with no Mark, a player who loses all 12 lives is out of the event. 


3. GAME PLAY
Every round, each player will be matched up against another player with the same (or similar) amount of lives.

When you lose a game, you lose the life of the Mark you were using. Any Marks lost also remove the ability to use those cards, so be careful not to lose a powerful Mark. Other than that, anything goes as far as deckbuilding. (See additional rules below)


4. MATCHES
Matches are not best-of, but instead, are a set number of games (5). When a player drops below 5 lives, the number of games they play is equal to the amount lives they have remaining.


- You can NOT use the same Mark more than once in the same match.
- You may only use cards that match the elements of Marks (Lives) you have remaining.
- You may use up to 10 upgraded cards in your deck. (You may not upgrade any Pillars/Pendulums/Mark cards)
- No 'Other' cards.
- MARK cards count as cards of the element they match.


Spoiler for Shard Restrictions:
In order to use the following shards, you must increase your deck size by 2 for each shard used:
:air :water

In order to use the following shards, you must decrease your upgrades by 2 for each shard used:
:death :gravity :life :light

No requirements for the following shards:
:aether :darkness :earth :entropy :fire :time

After a match and once per match, you may exchange one Mark that you won a game with (in that match) for a Mark that you've lost.

If something weird happens, take screenshots. You may restart as long as BOTH players agree to, otherwise play it out. The organizer will make a final ruling.


5. AFTER MATCHES
All players must submit their results and decks in the 'Battle Results' section immediately after the match.


6. WINNER
The player who is the last one with lives remaining is declared the winner.


7. REWARDS

Hmm, interesting idea, though this kills entire decktypes. I don't weep
for SoPa and SoFree decks, though SoW Morning Stars are nice for example. I cannot propose
a better idea, so we can roll with this, too. Any ideas, fellow players?

I like the suggested changes for the shards, way better than bundling all shards into one "OP pls nerf" pile.

Maybe there should be a bunch of variable restrictions for each shard put into a table, kind of like so:

(Shard and Max # of Copies is explanatory, Upgrades is amount of ups added or subtracted from the total for each copy (Indicated by a + or -), Deck Size indicates the number of cards you must add to your deck for each copy.)

I think people should be allowed to use 6 copies of every shard. The only shards that need nerfs associated in my opinion are SoFree, SoD, and SoPa.

SoFree: -2 upgrades per copy. This nerfs mono air rush which is really the only thing that makes SoFree OP.
SoPa: +2 cards per copy. Greatly reduces odds of getting opening SoPa because you're having to run it in big decks or stalls. I think it's fine if SoPa is used in these deck types.
SoD: -2 upgrades per copy. This may be a little harsh.

The other shards really aren't that big of a problem. We should only nerf if we want to move the meta more towards less shards, which is fine. But don't nerf shards for no reason. SoV for example is pretty garbage. Don't need to nerf it more.
