Are PvP Parasites still a thing?
Not that I know of.
-
I would like one more player for this :)
-
<-- I don't know how active i can be, but if there's nothing to lose, count me in for the player you need.
-
Sign-ups are now closed. Round 1 will be posted shortly.
You can still sign up as a sub.
-
JonathanCrazyJ has been kicked out from the event. Reason: request.
Zyardran has been kicked out from the event. Reason: little-to-no effort in playing the match.
-
3 people quit, so there's a disadvantage for the people that actually did play their matches. I'm thinking about restarting the event and starting from scratch.
Post your opinion regarding that here. You may also sign up here and you'll be "in" if a restart does indeed occur.
I'll wait to see what you guys think and I'll decide based on that.
Time left to post your opinion: Time's up! Your opinions don't matter anymore.

not in rules? in for the restart (at this point after 2 rounds half (i would say 6) of the players are simply playing by collecting points for the reward code)
if u wanna keep the same mechanic (5 matches and no bo5) the only way to prevent quits/byes is you/any council member/staff member to play as a stand in (or whatever is the name of the guy that subs during trials for the last battle) with something like random marks, same number of your opponent
a bye in first/second round and with 3 players left is simply too helpful
-
It's technically Sign Ups/Announcements. You have to post here to sign up for the event, so it's the best place to put announcements.
The other thread is Rules/Feedback.

I'm super new to this forum and these tournaments but I would be in to play if there was a restart. My card pool outside of life and dark is pretty bad but I don't really care about winning. Also just curious, how do people contact each other to play games and stuff? Can you private message people in this forum?

Yes, hover over "Inbox", then click "Send a Message"

Thank you!
And how good of a collection would I need? Maybe I should rephrase and say I'm mostly talking about upgraded cards because I can pretty easily buy almost all of the un-upgraded forms if needed. I have basically 6 copies of all shards un-upgraded also, just don't really have nymphs or upgrades outside of dark and life.

You don't need many upgraded cards. If you can afford all the unupped cards as you say, then you should have no problems at all.

Almost missed this.
For restarting the event: I do not mind, but will not be joining again if it restarts. Since I have already joined, I intend to see it through if it continues, but I'm struggling to find time and motivation for getting the matches done. Nothing that I mind about the event in particular, just RL taking priority.

There is not a disadvatage to all players, restarting would be more unfair to me.
Everybody is currently at 7 lives except for me, asdw and Danieela. I am the only person that won both his duels and won most games in the tournament.
If a restart happens i've lost the advantage that I earned by winning. I will get this next bye because of these victories. I feel like I have a shot at winning the tournament, so im not happy with a restart.
A restart is an advantage to new players and a disadvantage to people who have shown what they like to play and what elements they dont mind losing.
I was never assigned a random bye in academy (only by people not playing) and when a bye finally happens to me (earned by winning) it might not go through.
Im typing in an emotional way because I feel like im about to be wronged here, so I hope you understand.
Turning asdw's first vicory in a bye would solve more then restarting the event, at least for me. Im ok with the event restart if I was assigned the winner. I won most matches out of everybody.
If a restart happens it might be better to switch up the meta with different rules or a different amount of upgrades. Maybe ban an extra card or 2.
Also the rules for subs is something to look into.
-
I think I'm uniquely experienced to be able to definitively say that you have not won this even until you've won it. I had a pretty solid lead near end of previous 12 Lives event (#3) and still managed to lose. I don't like the idea of starting over... but, if the event re-starts then consider me signed-up to either continue from where it is now or to be part of the reboot of the event.
Thank you for organizing and putting brainpower and desire into hosting this event, ian - greatly appreciated!
-
I just mean I stand a chance.
I feel im doing well, so don't feel the need to restart.
No rule offers the option for a restart.
-
Alright, so here's how it's going to go:
- the event will not be restarted
- jijo will be kicked out
- Wyand and shockcannon will be added
- asdw, Wyand, shockcannon and ? will be matched against each other as if this was R1. Then, they will be matched again based on their lives as if they would play their round 2 matches.
This means that nobody will get a bye. It also means that the event will be delayed by a bit.
I need someone to sign up as the 4th person.
-
Lol.. im on holiday 9-17 june but if nobody else sign up.... hahahaha
-
sign me up if there is room
-
So what's the strategy for this event? I'm guessing you should save elements that you use in multiple decks for later? Are there certain elements that are universally accepted as more valuable than others? And why are quantum pillars not allowed?
-
I can't give you tips on strategy. You will have to create your own.
Quantum pillars are banned because all "other" cards are banned.

Final Standings

What was the decisive between me and shockcannon? I won our game...
-

Lives at the start of the round you two were eliminated.
-
I wouldn't say a word if rules like this would be known (mentioned in the first post) before the tourney.
But now it matters (points awarded). Looking from a different perspective: he had more life, so he lost
more in the same round, worse performance. Another perspective: Wyand-shockcannon=3-2.
And I'm pretty sure he could bring up different perspectives. Again: what I don't like that this
wasn't made public in the first post, and I lose points by this ranking.
-
And knowing it beforehand would affect you in what way? There's literally nothing you could've done except winning to improve your placement.
If you're looking for reasons to complain, find a better one.
-
Rules are created before an event not after. It is not about how much is the influence on the results,
it is about principles. I find my complain well-founded.
-
I'll chime in here I suppose...
I think you both a point to make- knowing what tie-breaks will be used prior to start of event is typical protocol and gives competitors a sense of knowing what to expect... knowing this particular tie-break method in advance with how the event plays with rules would not affect how the tie-break would shake out. That is, knowing the tie-break method prior to event would maybe serve to detract from or attract to sign-ups but knowing it after the event is not a grounds for complaint about finishing/final-standing, in my view.
-
The tiebreaker was irrelevant at the start of the event. Only the pvp event participation program that applied to this event after initial signups has made it relevant. If you truly wish to protest changes that affect this program, refuse all points for this program not being part of the rules during original signups.
Me? I'm just happy getting a piece of Mark for participating, against my expectations.
-
You are right about two things, these are good arguments. True, the pvp event participation program was applied later, plus yes, I'm also happy that the program exists and I get points for it.
My problem that both shockcannon and I mentioned the problem at round 6, when it mattered, and all we got that "this is irrelevant etc." instead of explaining
the rule which applies to situations like this. And it doesn't matter that it probably won't affect our performance. The principle matters. I simply don't like that it
is not the first time when someone questions something and all he gets like "less qq", "I'm the authority so I'm automatically right" or some ad hominem
or something irrelevant is handed out instead of a true argument.
Yes, I have a huge sense of justice. Others may say that I'm touchy. Still, my opinion stays the same if it happens with someone else or if I would end up
losing points by using the correct logic.
-
This clearly wasn't a foreseen issue, but it would have been nice for someone to make a decision when this issue was brought up then, and inform us what the planned tiebreaker would be when that issue arose. Hopefully now this can be implemented into the PvP Events rewards system and updated so there's precedent for future events.
I don't have any issues with this not being established beforehand, but it would have been nice to at least have an explanation for the tiebreaker on the final rankings post instead of needing someone to ask what the tiebreaker was since it hadn't yet been established or posted anywhere else.
-
I have a proposal:
Do not apply any tie-breakers for the PVPE Points system. Sure, break the tie for standings or direct event rewards themselves, but as it relates to PVPE Pts any "ties" simply evenly-split PVPE points among those tied.
EX:
Two players tie for 3rd place in an event where 3rd gets 3 points and 4th gets 2 points. (2 + 3) / 2 = 2.5 points (round up if you must be whole...?)
Three players tie for 4th place where 4th - 6th receive 2, 1, 1 points, respectively. (2 + 1 + 1) / 3 = 1.33 points... so on and so forth
Thoughts?
-
Or just simply giving full points to each player? Similar example: last Olympics, swimming, men 100 m butterfly. Results:
gold medal: Schooling - 50.39;
silver medals: Cseh, Le Clos, Phelps - 51.14;
bronze medal: no bronze medal awarded, because of the tie (2-4.).

When you play your match during the round is irrelevant.
Context matters.
-
I meant that, but I didn't explain myself and was lazy to search again for the aforementioned comments. What I wanted to
point out that it was stated that it is irrelevant when we play however it wasn't stated what is decisive then.
