12 Lives - #4

Players battle and try to reduce their opponents' lives until only one remains.


1. HOW TO SIGN UP?
Anyone with a forum and a chat account can sign up for this event. Start by reading the rules very carefully. Then sign up by posting on a separate sign up topic. If you cannot find a sign up topic, or if it is locked, this event is not currently active, and you will have to wait for it to restart.

There is no maximum amount of participants in this event.


2. GETTING READY
Each player starts with 12 lives, one for each element. These represent the Mark a player can use in their deck.

Lives and Elimination
The 12 Lives event centers around each player's 12 lives -- one for each Mark in the game. Every individual fight within a match, you risk whatever Mark you choose to use. If you win that fight, you keep your life.  If you lose that fight, you cannot use that Mark again. Since you can't build a deck with no Mark, a player who loses all 12 lives is out of the event. 


3. GAME PLAY
Every round, each player will be matched up against another player with the same (or similar) amount of lives.

In case there is an odd number of players, the bye will be given to the player that has had the fewest byes and has the most lives. If there's a tie, a random player will be chosen from those that meet the conditions.

When you lose a game, you lose the life of the Mark you were using. Any Marks lost also remove the ability to use those cards, so be careful not to lose a powerful Mark. Other than that, anything goes as far as deckbuilding. (See additional rules below)


4. MATCHES
Matches are not best-of, but instead, are a set number of games (5). When a player drops below 5 lives, the number of games they play is equal to the amount lives they have remaining.


- You can NOT use the same Mark more than once in the same match.
- You may only use cards that match the elements of Marks (Lives) you have remaining.
- You may use up to 10 upgraded cards in your deck.
- Shards are allowed, but some of them have restrictions. See spoiler below.
- No 'Other' cards.
- MARK cards count as cards of the element they match.


Spoiler for shard restrictions:
The following shards reduce the number of upgrades you can use in your deck for each copy you include:
- Shard of Sacrifice
- Shard of Integrity
- Shard of Patience
- Shard of Freedom
- Shard of Wisdom

Note: A deck can't have negative upgrades.

After a match and once per match, you may exchange one Mark that you won a game with (in that match) for a Mark that you've lost (in that match).

If something weird happens, take screenshots. You may restart as long as BOTH players agree to, otherwise play it out. The organizer will make a final ruling.

If the match doesn't get played, both players will receive a double loss (they both lose the maximum number of lives) unless one player can prove they were more active in trying to find a suitable time to play the match. PM the organizer any proof you have. The organizer will make the final ruling.


5. AFTER MATCHES
All players must submit their results and decks in the 'Battle Results' section immediately after the match.


6. WINNER
The player who is the last one with lives remaining is declared the winner.

Keep in mind that only the OP contains the official rulings.

Spoiler for Hidden:
I was thinking of something different to add to this event to see if the meta shakes up a bit. What do you guys think about having the balance rules I suggested for war be implemented in 12 Lives #4?

Specifically:

considering how some of the cards are broken upgraded, but are somewhat fair unupgraded, the following cards should no longer be upgradeable:
  • Graboid (Huge difference from 8/3 to 10/4)
  • Fire Bolt (This makes decks like firestall more "fair" to play against)
  • Miracle (Maybe it's just me, but immortal-like decks are very frustrating to play against. This should make it a little more fair.)
  • Blue Nymph (Absolutely insane card and very hard to kill if upgraded. This should at least make it at least have some more CC counters)
  • Sundial (Screw this card. Seriously, it's in every single stall deck, and no wonder why. 0 quanta stall 1 turn, with the ability of also drawing a card? Being unupgraded should make it less spread)
  • Vampire Stiletto (This card is in EVERY single deck that can produce darkness quantum. Insane in rush, midrange, stall, you name it. Being unupgraded only should make it feel less frustrating and less game swinging)

Also, in addition to the shards mentioned before, these cards should also reduce number of upgrades when used:

i will include discord somewhere, like -2 upgrades or make it not upgradable, 4 damage are more fair than 6

also shard of sacrifice is annoying, it can be a dead card rather than the one in the "considering how some of the cards are broken upgraded" but with bw "restricted" is the first pick in a potential monodeath

Upgraded sundial shouldnt be banned. In that list, sundial is the only card that cant be put into a lot of decks unless its upped, all other cards can.
First player to become master of 3 different elements.

After a match and once per match, you may exchange one Mark that you won a game with (in that match) for a Mark that you've lost.

Isn't it more interesting if you can't get your marks back? It forces people to be much more careful with their mark selections. Also, it forces people to keep building different decks.
